Any opinions on the lobster served at Grand Case LoLo's? Preferences?

It is your typical caribbean lobster. Grilled and usually with garlic butter. Personally, I am not a fan of the lolo's any longer. Better places to go without the flies.

I agree, JD. I don't know the difference in price from a lolo to a restaurant but we love the garlic basted grilled lobster at Lee's and we absolutely love the grilled lobster in the far nicer setting at Skipjacks. Both are to die for if its true grilled Caribbean lobster you're craving and neither of these options serve them with the 'side' you mentioned. Interesting that you should ask this question, I just posted on one of the Facebook forums about this.Here's what I said: Last year I finally tried a great big Caribbean lobster from Talk of The Town lolo in Grand Case. It was SO good! We got it to go (with sides), took it back to our apartment in Orient Bay, melted more butter for it and indulged. Leftovers provided excellent lobster and avocado sandwiches (on baguette of course) the next day. We bought the largest lobster they had, it was $60 for it and tasty side dishes. I enjoyed watching the grillmaster split my chosen lobster down the middle before putting it on the grill.

Does anyone know of a place where they boil lobsters instead of grilling them?
Grilling lobsters overcooks them and kills most of the taste.

It was a joke. In Maine you can get a boiled lobster. I have only seen grilled and thermidor on SXM.

And I think there's probably a reason for not finding steamed Caribbean lobsters, though I don't know that as a fact. And in honestly, I don't put lobster Thermidor in the same category as grilled lobster, but that's me.
I once complained to an island chef about a very well-done (as in over cooked) grilled lobster (from another location and I did so in the course of explaining why I wanted a smaller lobster....) and I opined that perhaps it was over cooked and dry because it was a very large lobster.
He told me that 'size really doesn't matter' - <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> - and it's more a matter of the Chef doing a good job or not. Now we often order one very large lobster at our two favorite places and share it, and I haven't had a bad one since. From what I recall, Uncle Harry's boiled their lobster. Not sure if it was totally boiled or just started out that way and then grilled but I am sure I recall seeing large pots with lobsters going in them.
Personally, I would think boiling would do more to inhibit the taste than grilling. With enough boiling you can make any meat tender (parboiled ribs) but you also boil out a lot of taste. A PROPERLY slow-grilled lobster with butter and seasoning sounds pretty good!

That's funny because the 'tough grilled lobster' we had was at Uncle Harry's the only time we ever tried them there. They were tasty, but very, very chewy so we just learned to save our quest for grilled lobsters to the two places we knew did them well, just like we learned nobody does lobster Thermidor quite like Antoine's. That makes me think they were parboiled to expedite cooking and made them tough in the process.

In a restaurant in Auckland, N.Z. they served local lobster topped with Scotch Whiskey flavored whipped cream. Sounded terrible but I tried it. The flavor was great and I don't like Scotch.

I agree 100 percent. I cannot comment if the old Uncle Harry's used to boil or grill, because I did not see them actually cooking and never asked because the lobster was to die for....have not had any better on the island since and that was in 2005. Their filet was excellent as well. I miss that place!!! I will say, last visit we had lobster at Skipjacks and although it was a bit bigger than I like, (smaller ones tastier) it was stil very very good. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />
