I am in search of a boat where I, as the captain get a great cabin but I also don't want my friends to suffer with a quarter berth or some such trouble.so I am looking for a boat <<<I don't care how big it is or how much it costs ,,,as long as it meets the following needs: 2-3 great cabins and a great boat for 4-6 people .. obviously ,if it has2 cabins then they need to be stand up cabins ,,such as the benneteau 45 I had a few years ago .it had a proper cabin up forward any captain would be happy with but it also had a full cabin in the aft , which, by the way ,had a full bath which included a bathtub!!!!. Any ideas are very welcome and, should you pull off a miracle ,such as finding me a HYlAS 54 I will pay a finders fee . love to hear from you ,,one and all,,, thanks and I remain mike 4 dogs

The Moorings has some new Beneteau 45's that meet what you want. There are also lots of owner version cats in charter that would meet and exceed what you want. If you don't mind chartering out of the USVI Island Yachts would be a perfect match. The use Island Packet Yachts usually in a owners configuration. Very much like the Hylas. G

Mike, If looking for a monohull in the BVI, what you are describing is as rare as hen's teeth because it requires very high freeboard in the aft part of the boat and pretty much all of today's manufacturers have opted for "sleek" lines with low freeboard aft ... negating that possibility.
The old center cockpit boats all had huge aft cabins, but what you gained in on board space, you generally lost in sailing efficiency.
Many yachts such as the Beneteau 41 have stand up headroom in the aft cabin, but you are not going to find many yachts offering stand up headroom "throughout" the aft cabin, unless you can find a much bigger yacht and probably an older yacht.
The Beneteau 55, 3 cabin has a good amount of stand up headroom in the aft cabins. The same holds for the Jeanneau 469 and Jeanneau 509, 3 cabin yachts.

We're CYOA fans and love their Jenneau 44i Mei Nu with her teal hull big cockpit and large forward berth. Twanger and canpndar have reviewed their Big Papa Lulu Helia 44 with an owners stateroom that takes up one full hull.

BVI Yacht Charters has a couple of the Bene Oceanis 55's that might suffice...

Check with VIP on St. Thomas. They used to have 2 Hylas 54s. Not sure if they are still in fleet.

Um... any catamaran over 40' should meet (and exceed) your criteria.

If you're interested in a cat, I believe TMM has 2 cats that have an "owners" suite that takes up one full hull; 2 nice cabins in the other.

The Moorings 393 cat has a great owners suite and then two equal cabins on the other side.

Hi Mike, would you be interested in a 3 or 4 cabin Lagoon 450? Each cabin has a private bathroom and it is very spacious. If so, send your inquiry with the requested dates to Jenny at amazingsail100@gmail.com. 954-290-1084. She might be able to set you up with owner time.

Not sure why anyone would be too concerned about sailing efficiency if it meant that the boat would be more comfortable with a higher stern freeboard. Seems to me that most sailboats are moored for most of the day due to the short distances between destinations in the BVI.

Cheers, RickG Sorry - just noticed this post by Rick - I love this boat - it is one we would charter in a heartbeat if it wasn't just the two of us - VERY nice.

IF you would be interested in a cat, take a look at the Moorings 4000. It is a new design and we took a look at one last August. I really liked the design with the galley forward and the interior and exterior dining areas back to back. Whole boat seemed great and I think they have some 3 cabin owners versions too.

I would suggest checking out the Voyage 50' cats. Very comfortable for a large group and the cabins are all equitable. We've chartered with them several times and can't say enough good things.

A Lagoon 400 owners Version with 3 cabins and 3 bathrooms will fit, too (see dreamyachtcharter) Greetings Lard

If you are looking for a monohull, I would highly recommend the Jeanneau 53 (sunsail has them) the aft cabins are fine, the front 2 cabins have slightly small beds, but the divider is removable making a large forward cabin. The real selling point is the cockpit - it is the largest and most usable monohull cockpit around - far better than any comparably sized monohull. Look at some pictures online and you will see what I mean. We chartered this with three couples and it was perfect. The only problem is that it doesn't look like they are adding any to the fleet, so the boats are a little older.

We chartered Mei Nu & it's indeed a very nice boat, but I'd go with a Jeanneau 53 or 57 if you can find one. We chartered a Jeanneau 54 many times before buying our Hylas & it was by miles the most comfortable charter boat & tons of fun to sail. If I could find the pictures I'd post the photo of about 15 TTOL'ers all in the bed together...
If I can't be a good example, I'll just have to be a horrible warning.

I have to assume the OP was talking Mono hulls. It sounds like he was on a center cockpit boat. I don't know of any center cockpits in bare boat charter any more.
Most bareboats are set up for max cabins not space. So bigger is the only real option to meet the criteria. You are still going to be dealing with standing room and aft cabins either way in a mono. If you could find a Beneteau Sense that would fit the bill as well but I a haven't seen any of them in charter either.
We do have two new 45's and a new 48 Beneteau's coming into the fleet. They have very nice aft cabins. The 48 is a four cabin and the 45's are three. These boats are beamy so they have nice space inside.
Lots of Cats will fit the bill.

Actually Kimber just pointed out to me that Island Yachts in Red Hook rent Island Packets and they do have some center cockpits.
