Don't recall seeing La California last year - is it still open? Also, are there places open for lunch in Grand Case or are they only open for dinner? Any idea what time they would start serving?
Thank you

La California is closed. The location and view were great but the food never lived up to the standards set by the other restaurants in Grand Case.

Captain Frenchy in Grand Case is open for lunch. I'm sure there are others, but that's the only one I've been to. They will also lend you one of their comfortable lounge chairs and an umbrella if you want to spend some time on the beach behind the restaurant.

Long ago, California was a great place to eat. Not true gourmet food, but they had great pizzas and wonderful ice cream creations, along with a nice selection of french dishes.

Ocean 82 serves lunch, although I confess I haven't been there for lunch, only dinner. Not sure what time they start serving lunch, but I would imagine probably not much before noon.

Sunset Cafe is also open for lunch. They have excellent fresh salads for those planning a large evening meal.

California has been gone for several years.

I don't know when you were there last, but we were there at the end of October and I gotta tell you, we were extremely disappointed in the food.

Rainbow, Captain Frenchy, Le Soleil, LoLos, Sunset, G's Snack, Enold's, Calmos all come to mind as being open for lunch daily (G's is closed Sundays) and I'm sure there are others. A number of the fancier restaurants will open for lunch if it is high season and/or if there are a lot of cruise ships in port. Some places open fairly for the brunch crowd - you won't have trouble finding a nice lunch meal in Grand Case.

It's been closed for a few years. What's in that location now?

Are you sure Enold's is closed? It was open on December 5th when we left.

I think the Love Hotel or Residence is where La California used to be. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can chime in with a more definitive answer.

Really? Maybe I'm mistaken, but I was told it was closed earlier this year. There's something in that location now, but I don't think it's Enold's. But again, I certainly could be wrong about that.

Not that it matters now, but we stayed there (upstairs) 10 years ago and the food was indeed good.

The reports of Enold's closing were incorrect. He is still there.

I have to agree... Sunset Cafe has been one of our favorite spots, with excellent food, but when we were there in late October, we both left thinking that it gone way way downhill.

I found the post which led me to believe that Enold's had closed. The poster said that it's now called Caribbean Cuisine.

I had heard that Love Hotel took it over.

It is now called Caribbean Cuisine and Enold's has disappeared from the sign for some reason. It used to be called Enold's Caribbean Cuisine. Not sure if Enold has disappeared, but his name on the sign is no longer there. The restaurant still looks the same and it is still open. Boat loads of cruisers were still coming there for lunch when we were next door at Captain Frenchy three weeks ago.

I'm not sure if Le Tastevin is still open at lunchtime since it has been a while since we have been on island, but if it is it is a great place for lunch. The open sides let you look out across the blue green water of the channel to Anguilla, and in the daylight the rich woodwork and blue fabric decorations looked fantastic. On top of all that the food was VERY good and nicely presented.

Maybe someone who has been there recently can comment...

Yes, Enold's is definitely still there. Got a new sign but same ownership, menu, etc. as of about thirty minutes ago smile
