We're used to hanging out on the French side, but we'll be getting back from a day trip and will arrive around 17:00 at the Simpson Bay Resort Marina. Any suggestions on where to go for a good time? A few drinks and a small bite...

Many places in that area. The Green House, Pizza Galley, St. Maarten Yacht Club to name a few.

There are quite a few to choose from and most are within walking distance.
In addition to the above BBB is next door and Topper's is just after that. Plenty of restaurants also...

You can hang out at the Buccaneer Beach Bar (BBB) and have some good food, drinks and sit on the beach.

Totally agree with the other suggestions. Buccaneer Beach Bar we love. GREAT burgers. Also there is a smaller "hut-like" bar between the Royal Palm and BBB on the beach. Don't know the name we just happened to "stumble upon it" one evening. Loved it there. Also, St. Martin Yacht Club. Great HH and delicious food while watching the boats come and go through the drawbridge.

I think the 'hut like' place you're talking about is La Bamba, which is no longer there, as as around the middle of November.

La Bamba is closed, but they are having Latin Nights at Soggy Dollar.

I agree with all of the suggestions you've gotten thus far - maybe you should've asked where NOT to go It depends on your definition of a good time, really. And the day of the week. Buccaneer is definitely laid back with great food and drinks. Topper's has good food (everything from osso bucco - Friday's only - to wings) and live music every night. Some nights are karaoke and some singers are better than others. Topper's by the Sea has a Thursday night show that is fun - if you're there when Ricky Fox is doing his show, it's worth seeing. The Harbor has live music every night, as well. Ranging from salsa music to classic rock. Good food and drinks and probably the nicest restrooms in the area La Bamba, sadly, closed on November 21. Red Piano is lots of fun - no food, though. Bon Appetite has good food and most nights has live, low key, musicians playing on the patio. The great thing about your location is that you can try one recommendation found here and, if you don't like it, you can walk to another location within minutes. Enjoy!

La Bamba? Closed really? Just found it on our last trip in August. Staff was really nice. Had fun talking with some of the locals. Everyone was so friendly!! We had such a fun night!

Supposedly they lost their lease. Some kind of a sweetheart deal between someone in government and the owners of PDP for a landswap of some nature, if the allegations in the Daily Herald are to be believed.
