I understand that FIG has moved from Cupecoy to somewhere in Maho. Does anyone know exactly where in Maho it is now located?

It's supposed to be opening there but as of last week it still was not open, or at least there was no signage to that effect.

Has FIG reopened in their new location? We were hoping to be able to try it in its new Maho location while there earlier this month, having thoroughly enjoyed every meal we had during its Cupecoy run, but sadly, it didn't open during our stay.

Weeks and Lesley,
Thank you both for the up-dates. I hope the music isn't too loud and the new location is a good step up for them. We look forward to finding out firsthand come Spring.

It's a bit loud for now. They have a D.J.

Given where it is, I doubt that they could raise the normal noise level at all ...

Does anyone know who or what is going into the old Cupecoy location? We loved FIG but they were not filling up the dining room in Cupecoy, at least when we were there and should do better in Maho.

Pan said: We loved FIG but they were not filling up the dining room in Cupecoy, at least when we were there and should do better in Maho. Interesting comment, Pan. We ate there often during all our trips after they opened, since it's basically just around the corner from the Towers, and our experience was always if we didn't get there early, we would have a hard time getting a table. Most nights we were there, the diningroom was filled as was the outside patio. My only hope is they maintain their interesting salads and entrees.....and their general approach as we enjoyed the place as more or less our 'go-to' restaurant anytime we couldn't decide ..... much like our favorite neighborhood Greek restaurant here at home. Wishing them much success in Maho......

It was generally not filled when we had been there in Cupecoy either, although we do generally travel off season, and we often eat early in SXM--earlier than at home, for some reason.
I do wish them well in the new location though. I hope and think they will be successful there.

I lived next to the Fig in Cupecoy, it was not open very often and was rarely full.
I was quite surprised that they moved it, rather than closing. Having said that, their new location is much more promising for them.

When you say that it was not open very often, I think that it often looked like it wasn't open, when it was. As a couple of times when we went there, we drove up and weren't sure it was open until we walked up to the front door.

Carol,
FIG as we knew it at Cupecoy never really looked open unless there were diners out on the patio or it was late enough that the lights were clearly on. I think they opened at either six or six thirty and until that time, the wooden outer door was closed and it did give the effect of being closed. We're typically only on the island in April and Nov/Dec but it was always open when we were there?

Always open in Feb./March and always busy. Busy to the point of reservations needed as I saw walk-in customers turned away that did not want to wait.
Seems odd we have a very different evaluation of a couple of popular places. I am not there all year long but between a couple of recent evaluations, I am scratching my head somewhat.

Yes, we traditionally go in June and I think perhaps it was closed one day of the week, but otherwise open every day for dinner, according to the sign.

Fig was never busy when we were there. On one occasion, there were only two tables filled all evening and this was early December. I am surprised that they moved to Maho, but perhaps they thought the new location would improve their business, but now they have much more competition.

I lived next to the fig for over 6 months and it was not a very busy place. It may have had clients between 7 and 11 pm, but that is not what I call a busy place according to SXM standards. I somehow don't think that they could pay their rent working 4 hours a day 6 days a week ...

This December they were closed. I am referring to last December and previous to that.
