Day one of week two found us doing absolutely NOTHING. No beaches, no pool, no breakfasts or lunches out. For most of the day, the farthest we strayed from our nest here at the Towers was up the hill for a quick trip to the grocery store and back home again.
We awoke early and showered and had our coffee, preparing to head into P'berg but we were both over-tired and one of us who doesn't want her name mentioned was perhaps just a little cranky so we decided we needed a chill day and this was going to be it.
Our friends went into town without us but need to go back later in the week so I guess we'll join them then. It doesn't sound like much now that I'm reading what I'm writing but we watched a little news to catch up on the real world, took a nap on the balcony and generally enjoyed the reality of our home away from home. I managed to connect with some island friends and make some plans for later in the week so in the end it was a day well spent.
We did finally go up to the Green Monkey at the Ocean Club with our friends for dinner. It might not sound like much but I think I had the best tsteak I've ever enjoyed here on the island - a huge grilled rib-eye well seasoned and grilled to perfection, served with yummy garlic mashed potatoes. This is the same place that had (and may still have for all I know...) the all you can eat rib night which I wasn't personally a big fan of, but the steak was equal to the best steaks Ive had at Bajatzu or anywhere else on the island, but for only $25.00 per person. It's a Friday (I think) and Saturday (for sure) night special and it was huge. So big in fact that breakfast tomorrow will be steak and eggs and afternoon bites with our drinks will surely include cold steak cubes along with cheese cubes and some other goodies. And the best part, it's totally casual - shorts and shirts all around were the order of the evening and they were playing music from the sixties and seventies which made the evening complete.
When all was said and done, we each had a couple of drinks, no apps or desserts - too full to even contemplate either one - and of course, our entrees and dinner was $86.00 per couple, and we each brought at least half a steak home with us.
We got back home and played dice for a while, and here we are at the end of another enjoyable day. As you can tell by now, it doesn't take too much to make us happy and this really was a very nice day when all was said and done.

Nice you got to spend some "alone time". Philipsburg will still be there in a few days. Thanks for taking us along on your relaxing day. We had a relaxing day too today, but must get in gear for decorating tomorrow!

We were totally into doing our 'nothing' today.
Happy to know you had a good flight and a safe arrival at home. The beauty of coming when we did was having time to get the decorating mostly done along with most of our other Christmas responsibilities before we left. After picking up a gift or two here I can say done with my shopping, too. One of the things I love about our November trip is it forces me to be super organized and efficient with regard to holiday responsibilities and all our December family birthdays.

Sounds like the perfect kind of "whatever may come" day to me. The attitude adjustment to remember to enjoy your latitude adjustment.
We regret not stopping at the Green Monkey...hubster kept wanting to try their breakfast.
BTW....did you luck out and get a new mattress in your unit? I'm sure they brought one in just for YOU!

No, but I am getting a backboard today along with a strong admonition for not having asked sooner. These new mattresses are like sleeping (or trying to?) on a sponge and I really do prefer a firm mattress.
Great trip so far and re the Green Monkey, their breakfasts are very good but they don't open until 8:30 which is usually a later start for us, though seemingly, not so late this trip......

Pat, I so agree about that steak. I usually have it three or 4 times when we are at the Ocean Club. I much prefer it to the ribs. They can also out a good blt together too. Enjoy.

These days, my best days are spent at 'home' at Beachside, so I totally get you! Keep enjoying!

Dang....never knew we could ask for a backboard....I suffered (albeit certainly not in silence...lol) for two weeks. As I told you, I tried to ride the middle where the body swells weren't, and the firmer part was.....rather defeats the purpose of a King size bed now doesn't it?
Green Monkey will definitely be added to the list now. Were there sauces and sides? Sounds reminiscent of the prime rib we had for at two Rainbow that lasted for three days in several creative reincarnations! Bon apetit!

Leona,
We'll see how I do with the backboard tonight but just sitting briefly on the bed, I saw no difference.
Re the Grren Monkey. - sides were garlic mashed or FF along with carrots, and the steak was well seasoned and grilled but no sauces were offered or asked for. So very good just as it was served and IMO, no sauces were needed.
And Linda,
I can easily see why you'd have it as often as possible. The friends with us at the Towers are the same ones whose questions you helped me with when they stayed at OC a few years ago. They really enjoyed the quaintness and intimacy of the property so their first night here this trip they went up for drinks and stayed for dinner, and they spoke of the BBQ steak special all week. So very glad we tried it.
We brought the Securety Man a burger and fries on our way out and if course, we had to peek. It looked and smelled yummy, too.
Respectfully,
