If US citizen, must you leave the BVI after 30 straight days there for one day in USVI then OK to return?

The simple fact you're asking this question makes me jealous.

And I don't know the answer... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

Pretty sure you can extend without leaving....others here will know far more.

They extended the initial stay, I believe as of last year. Not positive, but I seem to recall you can request 60 days (quite possibly 90) on your initial arrival.

I believe you can get a 90 day visa on entry but you can also go to the main immigrations office in Road Town and get a 60 day extension. As with any interaction with the BVI beaurocracy you can count on dedicating the better part of a day and possibly a second to the effort.

We have been on our boat for 6 weeks. We did make side trips to U.S.and SVI as well.

I'm pretty sure it's still 30 days, unless you go to Road Town to get it extended or have an alien landholder's card.

Found the original article and the answer in there is still clear as mud. http://bvinews.com/new/premier-smith-announces-two-month-automatic-stay-for-first-time-visitors/

Pretty hard to stay in the BVI more than a few days when you consider the cost of the charter, booze and food IMO.

From what I hear from a couple of 'long-termers', you still can only get a 30 day approval at all ports of entry. You need to go to Road Town to get the extension to 60 days...and that could take a half day of waiting at the office. It just might be easier to schedule a fun trip to St. John instead on the 30th day.
