Has anyone rented a two person sea kayak to go with their charter recently? Also, have you rented one from TMM? We are 8 on our upcoming charter and thinking of getting one, basically to use as a second dinghy to provide greater freedom of movement for the crew. Wondering if we'd be better off renting one directly from TMM or if the ones at Last Stop might be in better condition.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I got one from Last Stop Sports my last trip. It's actually good for 3 people and we used it quite a bit the kids liked it. Good for Happy Hour if someone wanted to leave early. But never again from Last Stop Sports. They told me to leave all of our rental equipment on the boat after our charter and they would pick it up. We left two kids life jackets and two kids snorkel vest along with the kayak. They claimed they never got the life jackets and snorkel vest and charged me $160.00 replacement fee.

Scott at Island Surf is great and Chris at Myetts also rents nice kayaks. Both will deliver to your charter or hotel.

We love bviwatertoys.com (island surf I think). Rented floats from them twice in the last year. They're on the boat at TMM when we arrive and they pick them up from the boat after we've left. Super easy!

If needed you can get a second dingy. I'd never needed it but I've seen it mentioned here and seen a few cats with two. Just in case that works better for you.

I think I would just rent from TMM, I doubt there would be much difference in condition of their Kayak and other rental companies Kayaks. You might consider an SUP or two instead of the Kayak. S/V Mardi Gras has a set of SUP/kayak storage brackets mounted which can hold two SUP or one Kayak just outside the lifelines. We found the kayaks to be heavy and often didn't launch it because of the weight. The Sup is much lighter and easy to launch.

Cheers,

Tony

Thanks Tony, been busy in our run up, but TMM has 4 brand new kayaks on the way. Been in touch with Karen waiting to find out if they will arrive in time for us. I've been delinquent in providing that update, but we will use the TMM brand spankin new kayak if available. If not, appreciate all the info and will go with one of the many alternates.
Thanks and, laissez les bon temps roulés!!
