The Daily Heraal today said that there was a warning not to swim in Great Bay due to water being drained from the salt pond. However if you look at the Port webcam there are chairs and umbrellas out and many people seem to be in the water. I guess the dollar trumps any possible health risks. I'm glad to be sitting in Simpson Bay today.

We saw at the very least, four pass by this morning, and we weren't even looking for them. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

boucharda said: ...or they are off ships and do not read the local paper The vendors read the paper and should not set up. One could hope maybe people aren't swimming just lounging. Looking at the web cam not many chairs set out and nobody in the water. Maybe someone came by and warned them.

As of 3:51 Eastern time, most everyone was probably already back on their ships, as that is 5 PM local time. I definitely saw a lot of people out in the water earlier in the day..

Correct.
Over 20 years ago when planning our first stay on the island I asked a travel agent prior to booking. I was looking at staying on wither Great Bay or Little Bay. Without a doubt I steered towards Little Bay (Divi) when made aware of the boat traffic in Great Bay.
It might be ok to lay around on the beach if on a cruise ship but I doubt I would swim there today.
