There has been a bomb threat at Princess Juliana Airport today at 12:30 P.M. Roads leading to the airport have been closed and flights have been detained. Check with your airlines if departing today.

The traffic is starting to move slowly across the causeway so things are looking better now.

Roads across the end of runway were closed down until Air France took off around 5:15pm . Military and police were all over the area all day.

I don't think ISIS is going to drop a dime. This is most likely some idiot that thinks it's amusing to mess up people's plans.

Business as usual here.

Quite so. It's even funnier these days when people's emotions are running so high. Somebody's Mom ignored him as a child.

There were a total of 3 bomb threats in total today. It started at 12:30 P.M. and ended at around 5:30 P.M. The last one involved the Air France plane that was suppose to leave in late afternoon. They searched the plane thoroughly and it was finally allowed to take off at 5:30. We were travelling to the Crazy Cow at 5:00 P.M. and were stopped by police and could not enter. Everything in the area of the airport was closed and there were police cars everywhere in that vicinity. When all clear was announced, we proceeded to our function and things returned to normal. A man was apprehended at the Pink Iguana earlier in the afternoon in connection with the first bomb threat. Lots of tension around today as everyone was on alert. Thankfully everything has returned to normal.

Assuming there was a Mom or Dad. Not likely any one representing responsibility.

These people feed on fear and panic. We should not spread the feat and panic but; as the Brits said in WW2 "Keep calm and carry on".

Respect

I agree.

Fear is terrorist's first and prime goal. Give in to it and you will help them a lot.

Ok, fear is irrational, for example people are scared of sharks.

However, last year there were 30 times more people killed when taking selfies than by sharks ...

According to the Herald the first threat had called in two bombs and the second one later in the day had one bomb.

Your West Jet flight just came in before the third threat. The third one was just before the Air France departure before 5:00 P.M. You were lucky as the West Jet flight was late leaving on Sunday night.

Dear all,

I gave this a lot of thought before putting down these words.

There have been many references to a "Bomb Threat". There has never been such threat on SXM.

There was a bomb Scare, which is a very different matter.

A bomb threat is a situation inferred by intelligence and sources inside terrorist organisations that something is about to happen.

A bomb scare comes from a person informing of an attack. As stated before, it could even be a way of lengthening a vacation on the Island.

The more you post about Threats, the more you are helping terrorist organisations to reach their goal, wide spread irrational fear and panic.

Unless we all want to ruin the tourist season here, can't we call for a halt on the subject?

I lived in London during the IRA bombing campaigns. A bomb went off above a pub, as I picked my way over the smashed glass I asked a bobby who was on faction if the pub was open. He replied "Of course, why?"

I wish you all a great evening.

You really aren't suggesting we ignore bomb threats/scares and to just sweep them under the carpet, are you?

Regardless, this particular situation is over and general discussion of such things is not appropriate for this board.
