Have always chartered a catamaran, this time just my wife and I going. Has anyone ever chartered a gemini, and how was it?

Gemini is a great cat originally design and built as a two person cruiser for the Chesapeake Bay. Know several people who have them and have been out a couple of times.
I stopped by and checked out the Gemini Legacy 35 at the Catamaran Co. at the boat show. Very nice. They are smaller than your average cat as they are designed to fit into a normal slip (only a 14 ft beam) [color:"red"]They do have two engines now. [/color] If you get into the high wind high sea season in the BVI, might be a little uncomfortable. Without dagger boards they draft only 35 inches. Might not point very well but you will be able anchor where most others can not.

I've sailed one in my local sailing club rental fleet. It's small and uncomfortable for more than 2-3 people, low visibility from the helm, and somewhat hard to maneuver under power as it only has one engine. If you are looking for something small try the Leopard 3900. I chartered one a couple years ago from the Moorings and found it much more enjoyable than the Gemini.

I have sailed one. They are pretty fast, especially if they have the screecher sail. It's defintely smaller and less rugged than something like a Lagoon or F.Pajot. That being said, the interior design is pretty nice - comfy for a couple. I agree that visibility from the helm is not great.
