We are preparing to leave for our first stay at Hideaway Villa since we purchased. I have been reading and reading and reading some more about dongles, wifi, routers, and mifi till I am now more confused than ever.

My plan (based on all of the tips I have read) is to stop in Road Town (since we want to get groceries anyways) on our way to Jost and stop at Digicel. There I will buy something that will allow me to pick up wifi on my iphone and my laptop from the villa. (East End of Jost)

I don't need to stream movies or watch tv shows, but I do need to keep connected. Can someone please walk me through what I need one more time?

p.s. thanks, and to all the Cat Fighter travels, safe travels and can't wait to meet you! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" />

I live on Virgin Gorda and use Digicel. It works great but it doesn't work everywhere. Be sure to ask if it will work on Jost

Looks like Digicel has changed their website a bit and no longer features their mifi device on there, but basically what you will most likely want to get from them is something similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/Huawei-E5331s-2-Mobile-Hotspot-T-Mobile/dp/B00871NPP6

It is called a "Mifi" device and will provide wifi for up to either 5 or 10 different devices at once. Based on what you said above, this is likely what would be most useful to you. I am assuming that they still sell these, but you might call the Road Town store to confirm.

I can't imagine it wouldn't work on JVD, here is the coverage map: http://www.digicelgroup.com/vg/en/mobile/plans/coverage-map.html

Basically, as long as you have line of site to a cell tower, you should be good. And the cell towers are all over the place now.

As long as there is not a long line at the store, you should be in and out in 30 minutes or less.

Thanks all! And onlymedication that is what I am hoping. I can walk to Foxy's Taboo and have internet also, but damn, having it on the terrace while I linger over breakfast would be the bomb diggity!

Winterstale....so soon!<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

We have a lime wifi working with ADSL via the telephone line at Adagio - very reliable service unless power is down.

Perfect! We had thought about coming over to Soggy Dollar area on the 28th for an afternoon. We will keep you posted.

Also giving some thought to doing a hike over the spine of the island from the East End and looping back on the road via Great Harbour and then Little Harbour. Looks to be a 6 mile hike with spectacular views from the top. We have driven most of it. But then again, that may have to wait until another trip down.

We will for sure be hanging at either SDB or Ivan's on the 28th - I'll be the girl in the red Red Sox cap <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
