Wondering what the current policy is between the two resorts. I've seen various contradictory responses to this question on the web, but I know I'll get a definitive answer here ! Also, I've used the gym at the Sonesta Maho both times that we stayed at the LaPlage, in the past (2011, and 2012) but I can't recall what time it opens. I think I remember the front desk at LaPlage possibly having a key they can give you if you want to go in there a bit earlier than it normally opens. Not sure if that's accurate, though !

I didn't think there were restrictions on any restaurants in that area. Years ago before the old Sonesta burned down, we went to an Italian place inside the hotel.
After rebuilding did Sonesta become all inclusive? That's the only reason I could see for a restriction. We ran into that on Aruba at Tamarin located next door to place we stayed---had to have a bracelet to get in.

DAvid....not sure which ''sonesta'' restaurants you are referring to. any of the ones on the strip are open to the general public.... The inside restaurant/ buffett they have within the resort i am not sure if that is still available or not. In 25 years or so...we never used it before..so probably won't miss it now.

The short answer is "no". Sonesta restricts all access to their resort since becoming all-inclusive. Guards will check for bands everywhere and it is rather annoying, especially if you go down the right side between the resorts to get to your room. There is still gym access only with the use of the key at the RI front desk. You now need to sign for it.

Last winter we stayed at La Plage and went one day to chat with Sheryl at the Palms resto/bar and bought drinks without an issue. We have also - when relatives stayed at Sonesta and we were at La plage - bought bracelets for breakfast so we could have bkfast with them for their week at the Sonesta. Not sure if that is what you were thinking about J&B

I was wondering about the Point Bar, the Palm Grill, and the new Ascot Pub & Grill, and also Latitude - Or is it called SkyBeach ---on top of the Sonesta.

Ascot, and Sky Beach are open to the public. The Palm Grill and the Point Bar are through the resort. As for Ascot..save your money. IT SUCKS!!!!!!! As i said, all the places on the front of the resort are privately run....have nothing to do with Sonesta. I do beleive you can still access the Palm Grill and pay for it!!!!!

BTW...Sky Beach is not on top of the Sonesta...it is on top of the retail stores in front. It's only three stories up.
