Mostly highlights...very few lowlights. Stayed at Caravanserai/Alegria and loved it. I know all the history, but this is "home" for us in St Maarten. We have "owned" there since pre-construction. We have visited the island 1-4 weeks annually for over twenty-five years dating back to Mullet Bay. The folks at Alegria/Caravanserai are "family" and have remained such even through the crappy timeshare times. Many of our favoirite restaurants were still closed for vacation ( Izi, Boca Marina, etc) but happily found Chesterfields open as well as Tortuga and Rondezvouz in Puerto Coupecoy and others. Wonderful people, great food, and relaxing times. We hire a car from good friend Winston Blythe owner of Blythe Car Tours and Rentals. Our visits are simple and expectations such that we are never disappointed with that beautiful weather and gorgeous water (except on Orient / seaweed). Attended a beautiful Sunday morning Mass in Philipsburg and enjoyed a great bleu cheese burger at Sunset Beach Bar...big remodeling/changes for them though! The island was very dry in great need of rain. The St Maarten people continue to amaze us through their friendship and simple, but happy lifestyle. We love St Maarten and look forward to returning in 2016....

Hi. Thanks for the report! Any pictures to share, particularly of the renovations at Sunset?

Sorry no pictures but can tell you (and all) that SSBB is taking over the entire space previously occupied by Bliss and building a new kitchen and retail sales area back in the Bliss area and creating a huge "front" dining area. Additionally, there is a new beachside deck being constructed . The parking for SSBB is still a mess with taxi cabs etc bringing in cruise passengers. And yes, there was still no sand on the beach but evidence of sand starting to come back in...

Thanks for the info. I truly hope they do something about the parking.

panman What is your status with the resort? Did you sign the Alegria form, was part of the law suit or did you just rent form Alegria?
