HI everyone, does anyone know if we can bring with us to St. Martin, walkie talkies from US? WE stay on the French side, if that matters... or suggestions on where to find out.
Thanks

FRS/GMRS radios from the US would be illegal to use. They operate on frequencies from 462 to 467 mHz, where the european standard is 446 mHz. Also, emergency services use frequency 466 mHz, so your US radio could interfere with their radios. St. Martin even cracks down on Dect 6.0 telephones being used, so don't take a chance.

I can't say one way or the other but I have seen people on the Dutch side (in Philipsburg) attempting to use walkie-talkies. I have no idea if they work or not.

Perhaps renting 2 cell phones or getting international calling on your cell phone would be an option?

I'm sure they would work and that some people have used them but I think the question was if there were any issues with using the frequencies that were typically used in the US and it appears from the posts that these frequencies are reserved for other services.
