August 9-19, 2015 (Day 7)

Early to rise as usual, quietly brewed my coffee while others slept in. As you've heard me say many times, this is my favorite time of the day. It's always so quiet and peaceful in the twilight hours here. With coffee in hand, I walked around feeling the cool damp deck on my bare feet. It had rained overnight and even in the low light I could tell our morning weather would be questionable.

After the crew awakened a nice full breakfast was prepared. There was considerable cloud cover, but "Positive Is How We Live" so we decided to head in for an early morning hike to Biras Creek. It was a leisurely hike on the well maintained trail from Bitter End Yacht Club to the Biras Creek property. Even in the current drought conditions the landscape was beautiful along the way. The nights rain was much needed and it put a wonderfully fresh smell in the air, love that! It was very quiet during our walk and the land crabs and hermit crabs were our only company along the way.

Once on the Biras property we turned left to see if the horses were in the corral and visit the beach. Soon the skies would open up and we got caught in a 5 minute downpour next to the horses, no problems I sheltered in place under a low palm tree. We protected our camera gear in my OverBoard dry bag, a waterproof go-pro was used to video tape our experience though! After a quick stop at the deserted beach we walked back to the main resort which was closed. It's beautiful here.

Once back at the boat we prepared to motor onward to Leverick Bay. The cloud cover was starting to scatter and we figured our day may not be a wash out, but I would trade any sunny day at home for a rainy day in the islands. Donna would release the mooring lines and we enjoyed a slow motor through the empty Biras Creek mooring field passing the empty YCCS mega yacht marina, off season is so quiet around here!

Leroy was ready to assist us on the Leverick docks, he's a great guy! Once on the dock I hopped down and chatted with Leroy for a while, he looked at me funny and said "I recognize you, welcome back, what's your name again?" that made my day! I grabbed some ice from Leroy for the Polar Bear cooler that would soon be restocked with Presidente's from the well stocked Leverick grocery store. Leverick's store has everything you would need to re-provision! Leroy came over to the boat and said Nick was on the dock phone and needed to speak with me, we finalized our vehicle rental and confirmed our plans for dinner later that night.

It was still overcast, but that didn't keep the girls out of the pool and they enjoyed the Leverick wifi. We putzed around the marina for a while until Donna said let's walk up the hill, followed by me saying "ugh, if we must". Quite the hills around Leverick!

We had dinner reservations at Coco Maya for 1830 hours so we all got spruced up. We had arranged for 2 vehicles, thanks Nick!, and we would soon be keeping left along the winding roads of Virgin Gorda. Fortunately the rains had cleared and the roads were dry for this fun ride.

We have never been to Coco Maya and we're glad Matt and Stephanie recommended it. The location is easy to get to and it's a beautiful restaurant. When we arrived we walked through the restaurant to the beautiful beach and I saw a familiar face. I only knew this person from photo's on TTOL, HEY RITA! It's always nice to meet people that you've only conversed with online, thanks TTOL! Soon everyone would arrive and we enjoyed some drinks and good conversation in an amazing setting, even had a bonfire!

Once the sun began to set we moved to our table for dinner. The food at Coco Maya is great, we enjoyed everything....well almost everything! Word to the wise, if everyone in your party is ordering tapas style and you order a main course make sure you tell them to bring it all at the same time! Poor Nick and Monica waited an eternity for their dinners. I don't usually add photo's of my food on posts, but if Monica is reading this here's a photo of what we shared, poor bird was starving! What a fantastic dinner we had and great company!

Great write up as usual.

In February we plan a Leverick day and Coco Maya dinner, although if we're there on Monday, it will be tough to stay away from Bean's show.

I know most people have Nick arrange for a vehicle or two, but with our crowd I'm not sure that driving back to Leverick imbibed and at night is the way to go for us...

Any issues with taxi service from Coco Maya to Leverick at night?

Thanks for reading! We had a DD, but Nick and Monica hopped in a safari taxi, pm/email him and ask about the details for that. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />
