We were in SXM for 10 days earlier this month and I'm finally getting around to posting. There's nothing much to report other than the following:
Kokomarina-We "discovered" them this year and can't say enough good things about them. Great food and service and the 1:1 exchange was a welcome change.
Unity Car Rental-We have rented from Michael for years and this year we had our first car problem. The car had an intermittent starting problem and by our last day it wouldn't start. I called Michael (another reason to have a cell phone) and Michael arrived in 20 minutes. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> He couldn't get it started so he kindly swapped cars with us. We went about our way and Michael waited with the disabled car until one of his guys picked him up. It's a good example of the great service we continue to get from Michael.
Other than that there's nothing to report other than the island looks to be on it's way to being overbuilt with condos. I wonder about the construction standards are for when the inevitable hurricane hits.
AA was fine coming and going and no bags were lost. The in flight service was what we've come to expect from today's airlines. We'll probably go back next year but the changes are getting harder to take each year. Maybe I'm just getting old but it's just not the same that it was 15 years ago and I don't think the changes are for the better.
