Has anyone done this beach excursion to Buccaneer Beach? How nice is the beach? Too crowded to be relaxing? I would really appreciate insights. This is for November - I don't know if that impacts the water easy in/out or not. Thanks in advance!

Hi. I realize you put this thread in the Afloat section, but you will get a lot more feedback here with regard to Buccaneer Beach.

I'm not sure if you are talking about Kimsha Beach which is in front of Buccaneer Beach and the Atrium. If so, the water is very calm with a sometime big drop off entering and exiting the water.

If you eat/drink at BBB you get free lounges and an umbrella. They have more than decent bathroom facilities.

Louise--the poster is talking about a cruise ship excursion, which I guess maybe includes food at Buccaneer.

If it were ME, I would just take a cab and go to Mullet or just hang out on the beach at Great Bay. You can walk there from the water taxi pier or actually walk all the way from the ship if you want. You really do not need to pay for an excursion to a beach on SXM, not at all.

I agree with Carol no need for an excursion and this would not be my first choice for a beach.

Ok that makes sense. Orient would be my first choice if I only had one beach to visit for a few hours from a cruise ship. Mullet doesn't have a bathroom, so that could be a deal breaker and Dawn isn't what it once was.

Well, that's true, Mullet does not have a bathroom. I would have recommended Orient, just I figure that probably the restaurant renovation project will probably not be done by when he goes.

There's Kakao or Palm Beach.....restaurant, restroom and shower facilities, nice chairs and umbrellas. Though Kakao charges $20(5?)

Mullet has a bathroom. Rosie charges $.50 to use.

There are some places still open on Orient, yes, but in general, they are the more expensive ones.

Not to split hairs here, but Rosie has a portapotty which, to a guy, might equate to a bathroom but not to most females, though if you're desperate enough........I suppose.......

I wouldn't waste my money going to BBB. The beach isn't the greatest and there is nothing special about the food although my son-in-law loves their dry ribs. If you just stay at Great Bay you can eat wherever you choose with quite a few choices.

I can't really pass judgement on the food at Buccaneer since its been years since we've eaten there but that beach has never really impressed me. The water access has always been decent anytime we've been there but it just never qualified as a 'destination' beach, IMO. And I kind of agree, if you plan on spending time in P'Berg, there are some awesome food ops along the beach and most of the places have chair rentals though I have no clue as to the costs. If I were going to pay to visit any full service beach on SXM, it would definitely only be Orient.
