It was in the newspaper, as I posted here a while ago. I can't remember exactly when he was supposed to reopen, sometime around October 1, I think.

We went there once, thought it was way over rated and did not understand why this place gets the regulars that it does. This was four of us, and none of us really cared for the place. I would add, the parking was terrible!

We have not been back in the next 12 plus trips since, who knows, someday we may go back but with so many great places I am not sure why we would.

Todd...maybe because the food is great......the service very good....and the pricing more than fair!!!! I had better Italian dishes at Mark's place than I had at the ''other'' Italian restaurants in Simpson Bay!!!! and for about half the price. If you don't want good food...for a reasonable price don't go back there......go for the parking problems instead smile

Sounds just like how some feel about The Palms. At least there IS adequate parking unless the grocery store is packed.

I will also add, you see way more local residents dining at Mark's Place than you do many other establishments.

You've seen it here many times, that anyone can be disappointed by any restaurant. We've been going to Mark's Place for many years and rarely had less than great food, at very reasonable prices.

The best place for the day of arrival. Early dinner and then food shopping. Great food at reasonable prices and as EdB said: we've had better Italian food there than at Izi's

We found Marks Place in its original location and we've enjoyed it on many an occasion since then. Gourmet? NOT!! But like others have said - good food, good service and all at reasonable prices and to my way of thinking, sit there some evening and watch the islanders picking up their Togo orders. That many locals can't possibly be wrong, can they?

Not at the top of my A list, but "Mikey likes it" nonetheless!!

Agreed--a TON of food, for very reasonable prices. I almost always leave there with as much of my entre to take home, as I ate!!

Sorry you did not get a real answer to your question. Somehow threads seem to take a strange turn when an answer cannot be given. They usually are open for business again in October so perhaps you will be able to enjoy dining there for part of your trip.

The first response from Carol stated Oct 1 and that came from a listing in the newspaper. Carol wasn't exactly sure as you aren't in your response. It's always been open in October while I've gone.

My response in the other thread said they would be closed for 'basically all of September', and I don't remember what was posted in the paper exactly. Regardless, the OP could either call or stop by, once they get to the island.

Thank you to every one for the info. Will fill you in a week from Sat. when we stop for groceries on the way to the Divi.

Coffee,

I also make the trip from the airport to Divi, our second home. Even though the location and lot size at Le Grande Marche seems safe we either go straight to the Divi and I go back or my wife stays in the car.
Just be careful. Enjoy your stay.

DrDoug makes a good point about going to Divi first then back to shop. Not just because it's safer to have dropped off luggage but sometimes Divi runs behind with check-in and you could find yourself with perishables and not being able to get into your room in a timely fashion. That happened to us once.

Divi did have a small area to hold refrigerated items but not large for all your cold items.

Coffee I've sent you a "long" private message with directions---look for a flashing envelope by your name.
