I don't know with regard to Grand Case. I did see in the paper this morning that Mark's Place is going to be closed, basically for the month of September, for renovation.

Sometimes in NYC when a restaurant is closed for "renovation" it means a new owner. Do you think that's the case here or is it still the same owner?

I have no idea, but I doubt it. The only information I have is what was in the Daily Herald today.

It wasn't an article, it was an ad from Mark's, just to let people know they would be closed, in the full online version.

Always very important as I plan two weeks of dinning every night. just on island for next two weeks. Will compile a list of closing. A truly wonderful meal at L'Auberge Gourmand last night, friendly gentile service. Responsible prices, generous portion of foie gras and a very nice pour of sauterne. L'Auberge Gourmand closing for September.
LaVilla only closed on Wednesday. Florence & John Carlos back from vacation today. L'Effert Mer ( a hidden gem and one of the best not visited) to remain open. Sky's the Limit
lolo in Grand Case last night is Monday. They have a great party to celebrate at 9:00 pm with all food and beverages free including alcohol as a thank you. A nice mix of locals with some tourists. Can't beat a free party. Always enjoyed the hospitality of Jaqaline, Emile and all the girls working at Sky's the limit. Come and join the party.

In my experience you are pretty safe before August 15 and after October 15. During September I would say that way north of 50% of restaurants are closed.

They are not in Grand Case, but heard from Bruno that Yellow Sub AND Dreams will both be closed from September 14 to October 5.

Carol, I meant mentally refreshed. I am in the business and its not an easy one. Every trip to St Martin allows us to go home and open refreshed!!!

Yup, I get you, for sure.. I would not be in the restaurant biz, especially in SXM!
