Well DANNY caused quite a panic here on the island, scared the heck out of anyone that went through the surprise of GONZALO last season... and then he proceeded to become the storm that never showed up... lucky for us. Would have been nice to see some rain, but living on a sailboat in the area, you can imagine the level of concern when a storm breaks CAT3 and heads straight for you. DANNY was obviously too small to survive the dry air mass surrounding us currently, it literally knocked the wind out of him, but now TS Erika has formed right on his heels and is a much bigger storm they say is capable of sustaining itself through the airmass.. it is only forecast to go through as a Tropical Storm, but that's what they said about GONZALO. Everyone feels like we dodged a bullet with DANNY, and after a major amount of preparation as a dress rehearsal for the first major storm since GONZALO.. but now they plan to put all the boats back in the water in the face of ERIKA arriving... I wonder if that is a wise idea... Here is our video playlist about arriving in SXM recently, and our own decision making processes as DANNY approached: 'Sophisticated Lady' Arrives St Martin, and dealing with TS DANNY https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL617uWVV3aozVq_RIxmyT863IfUn7ZXgN

Right now Erika is zipping along. Also right now the various models are not in agreement about Erika. Although, currently none have it becoming a hurricane, but it could be a big tropical storm.

I personally wouldn't be in any hurry to put anything back in the water. Erika is presently forecast to pass by St Maarten on Thursday afternoon.

Was just notified that the boatyards have decided to leave the boats where they are, so the St Barths and Anguilla ferries are also staying on land till after the storm passes.

Makes sense. Stay safe! Danny may have been the rehearsal for Erika!

NOAA is now forecasting it to be a hurricane just as it enters the Bahamas... luckily for us, after it leaves our area.. so lets hope that forecast stays accurate over next couple days

Rick--nice video from Cupecoy. What restaurant was that you were eating in, in Grand Case?

Thanks for posting Rick. You do very nice work.
Beautiful shots, good flow, you have a gift for narrating....no pauses, ah's, or um's..... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />
