Just returned this evening from a wonderful week on St. Martin (French side). Just some random thoughts:
1. flight from Newark was uneventful, the kind you want.
2. picked up at airport by Unity - got a great Nissan for $240 a week. Michael looked at both my Visa cards and told me one would pick up my collision insurance saving me 10 bucks a day. In and out of his office in 5 minutes and on the road. It would help if his driver would be inside the terminal rather than out on the rotunda so that was a minor inconvenience.
3. stopped by Sharon's office and picked up my cell phone -less than 10 minutes. Its nice having a cell phone while you travel thruout the island.
4. dinner at Spiga - 1 for 1 US dollar if you pay cash; my beef tenderloin was excellent; my wife was disappointed in duck, as it was not crispy and fatty.
5. Spicy - Sophie and husband, a European trained chef, was a nice discovery. Offered 1 for 1 US dollars also. My wife, who is a lamb lover - cooks it herself and orders it many times out - took one or two bites and said it was the best roasted leg of lamb she ever had. I agreed. Beef tenderloan was excellent also. Nice touch was on the house vanilla rum after drink. We definitely re-visit our next time there.
6. Sol-E-Luna. Excellent beef tenderloan again. Wife enjoyed shrimp and scallop dinner. EXPENSIVE. With dollars they offer 1.35-1. Nice passion fruit liquor after dinner.
7. Peg Leg Pub. Bourbon sirloin was very tasty, but fatty. I would go back but go with the fillet mignon. Wife enjoyed chutney chicken (it was tasty).
8. L'Auberge Gourmande. This is the CURVEBALL. Excellent drinks and salad. Very good beef tenderloin and lamb dish - but in our opinion, not as good as Spicy. Also offer 1 for 1 dollars.
