Suggestions for best chart app for an iPhone? We're heading out this afternoon from our home on Crooked Lake MI, making a run to Mackinac Island. I know this is the BVI forum but trust you guys to steer me in the right direction. Looking for an app that'll give us charts to navigate the Straits of Mackinac into the marina on the island Thanks all! Julie

Not sure about the detail for the area you are going but Navionics is one of the best mobile chart apps. http://www.navionics.com/en/mobile-pc-app-1

I've been very pleased with Navionics for both BVI and US waters. I believe I had to buy two different chart sets to cover both.

For me, Garmin Blue Chart is preferred by me since LUCI has a Garmin setup and I can sync with my boat over wireless...otherwise I agree with Navonics.

Earth NC Marine - $20 and all the charts you can download for free. I've played with it as a back-up in the USVI and SVI and it's spot on with my $500 Garmin and $160 Blue Charts.

Hey Cottage Girl - Now also known also as "Fudgy" (since you are visiting Mac Island), With a great day today up here, you should be OK via line of sight and google maps will point you to the right areas to traverse from Burt Lake to Mullet Lake and to the Cheboygan river. Just don't spend too much time at the Hackmatak Inn and Pier thritysomthing bars on the Cheboygan river on your way.
What kind of boat are you making this trip on? I've wanted to make that trip for years but just don't have the desire to trailer from Douglas Lake to Crooked River and then back.

The Navionics app for us lakes worked great! We are in the marina at Mackinac now. Hoosier- were on a 25' Chaparral bow rider. We've done the inland waterway before but this was our first time thru the Cheboygan locks and across the straits. Are you on Dougjas Lake? We love the Douglas Lake Bar & Grill!

We are on the west side of Douglas Lake (Silver Strand) since 1965. Know the DLB very well! Thank goodness the DNR has never done a water patrol when I was boating back after dinner or back in the day it was just a bar.

Twanger - Does Earth NC Marine not cover Anegada? I see chart coverage for all the BVI islands except for the area around Anegada. It was also $9.99 as an Apple App., not $20.

Noel- you appear to be correct! I have not used it in the BVI that far out. Didn't realize that Anegada didn't have coverage.
