I wouldn't call it "widely accepted", but it is accepted. There is no foreign currency conversion fee, so it's worth taking with you, especially for French side purchases.
I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

Ditto the above. Have been able to use it in many places, but not all.
There's a small fortune to be made in racing; just start with a large one.
