Deciding where to go next season, we love to snorkel nude as well as having a nude beach to sun. In our humble opinion the US Virgin islands have the best snorkeling but nudity is forbidden, any suggestions from the experts on this board?

I know that there are a couple of small boats that do charters in the BVI and USVI, that offer the possibility of nude snorkeling, etc. They know where to go that there will be no one else there. You might check into that.

Don,t know where you are located but sounds like Little Beach on Maui would be just what you are looking for. Beautiful nude beach with good snorkeling on either side of the beach near the rocks.

We've done nude snorkeling quite a few times. Here's what our experience as been:
The best nude snorkeling we have ever done was at Paya Bay. Now, I'm not that thrilled with the resort, but the snorkeling was really great and they had no problem with nude (during naturist weeks). The trip to Pigeon Cay was especially worth it, though on our second visit they never got around to offering that trip. The Honduras reefs tend to be much more unspoiled.
We did the Tiko Tiko cruise in St. Martin, where you can snorkel nude. The problem with St. Martin is that it has a much longer history of commercialization and tourism, so the reefs seemed much more damaged and there wasn't nearly as much fish. It was one of the weaker snorkeling trips for us.
At Hedo they will let you snorkel nude if there are no other family resort boats around. I've been snorkeling there many times and have never worn a suit, so it's common. Reefs around Negril vary from worn out to really nice. Our last trip they took us to an area that was really teaming with fish and the reef was very nice. There's also a sunken cannon and some anchors to see. The guy from the boat swam with us and offered to take pictures with our camera, and we got lots of great shots. It was a blast.

chazo--some of the reefs on SXM have come back in recent years from what they were, but I agree they are not as good as other places, for sure. I believe that part of the issue also with SXM reefs had been the number of hurricanes which had hit there in recent years.

Well, crap, sounds like they were told to leave the water and they didn't. Lightning in Florida is nothing to trifle with!!!

Thanks for the advice. We are looking at Couples Negril so I guess that Negril snorkeling excursion might work, can you provide the name? Were you able to snorkel nude on that particular trip? Again, my thanks.

I can't help you with snorkeling but we loved the nude beach at Couples Negril. It's small but otherwise nearly perfect.

I've always heard there is a big gawker rate there at their nude beach, but never been there.

You heard wrong. It's a beautiful section of the main beach with soft sand and calm water. There is minimal foot traffic going by, but never a problem. Security is very good. The vendors can be a little annoying but security never lets them approach the guests unless you want them to.

OK, heard that several times, but never been there myself. At the former Grand Lido (may she rest in peace) there were no vendors on the c/o beach, which was nice.

Yeah, it wasn't the best beach for sure but the snorkelling was good. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Smile.gif" alt="" />

I did forget about Grand Lido, though it's history, anyway.
I doubt that the snorkeling provided by Couples Negril can be nude, though I would be very happy to be wrong. In Negril we snorkeled out of Hedo and that was provided by the resort. You probably could go for a day pass and do it.

We have been to Couples Negril several times. The nude beach is nice, there are a few people that walk by at the waters edge, and look, while trying to appear not to be looking. It's not a big deal. You can take a snorkel trip with the resort, but it's not nude. There is a really nice hot tub on the nude beach you can watch the sun set from. I suppose you could wear snorkel gear while you do it but......yeah your right it wouldn't be the same.

We've been to Hedonism II three times, now (and Hedo III once as well). I like to vacation nude and Hedo is one of the few alternatives for that and we have gotten some really great deals every time we went. We have always been in the summer (because that's when we can travel), so occupancy tends to be light. I like that I will wear no more than a sarong (sometimes see-through) and T-shirt the whole trip. We are not swingers, but do kind of like the sexy vibe. But, it actually makes a reasonable nudist vacation destination (though don't expect AANR to weigh in any time soon).
We snorkeled every trip and I was nude every time. Technically, they won't let you if a family boat is out at the same time, but it has not been a problem. The last trip he looked around and said okay. When we go out there was a Beaches boat nearby. I'm not sure if they saw us; if so, they should consider it a free show.
