My wife and I spent this past weekend in a “get-a-way” weekend. I made the arrangements, and she only knew we were going to an “undisclosed location.” I did promise that Dick Cheney would not be there! I chose a B&B in the Potomac Highlands called North Fork Mountain Inn. I could not have chosen better. Waking up in the morning and looking out on a mountain view that takes your breath away cannot be valued. The breakfasts were not only gourmet, but hearty as well. There were hiking trails right from the Inn, and great hiking and viewing spots within a short drive. We went up to Dolly Sods, a high windswept plateau that makes one think they are in upper Canada.
The inn keepers Ed and Carol made you feel right at home. Dinners were offered for a very reasonable price for the quality. Saturday night there was a wine tasting to prepare one for the multi coursed meal. If you want to spend your day hiking or just sitting on the porch in a rocker reading a book, this is the place for you.
