we have 9 of us ages 13-70 so it is hard to please everyone - we stay in maho but rent a van- - we mostly eat American and Italian - here is what we will probably do:
1) Cheri's - we go every year for the atmosphere, have been going since my son was 5
2) Il Nettuno - one of our favorite spots (taking the family there this year, usually we go with just the 2 of us)
3) Bajatzu Bar & Grille - never did but may do just wife and I
4) Cugini Trattoria - never went - looking for feedback
5) Aglio Olio - had a great time there last year

any other suggestions?

Fun family vacation with 9! wink

Agree about Pizza Pasta, behind Cheri's.
Maybe try Jimbos in a Simpson Bay?

If you all go to Orient try Kakao. They have large palapas which would be fun. Excellent food to please all ages.

I very much agree with Kakao. We used to go there all the time, somehow hadn't been there for a long time, went there in June and really enjoyed it. Very much enjoy the individual tables under the palapas, as opposed to being up against a bunch of other people. Nice variety of food, from full on French dishes to great thin crust pizzas and great burgers!!

You might like to try Le Ti Coin Creole in Grand Case, the last restaurant on the main road before you get to GCBC. It is an undiscovered gem, a small, quiet restaurant, run by chef Carl Phillips, in his grandmothers old creole house. Don't let the word creole stand in your way, it's not spicy food, unless you want it that way. He can customize your meals as you like them.

We loved Batjatzu - went 2 times in May. We also like Charthouse. Both are pricey so may want to do a romantic dinner with the 2 of you.

A lot of the suggestions were for restaurants on the high side so I will give you a few more economical places that can easily handle 9 people. The Green House, Pineapple Pete's & Buccaneer Beach Bar. The Fire Ball is fun to see at BBB. I don't remember what nights.

Fireball at BBB is on Sunday nights. Maybe also on Friday, but Sunday for sure.

Yes, the fireball on Kim Sha Beach is Friday and Sunday evenings. Always enjoyable.

We think the food and service are pretty unbeatable at Pineapple Pete's. Burgers are the best, love the Fish & Chips, wraps are good, and the pasta is great.

Another vote for Kakao. Also, The Palms in Simpson Bay, voted best local food for several years. Also in the Simpson Bay area, Byblos (Lebanese), and Avantika Thai. Both Byblos and Avantika would be great with a large group, as you can order family style and sample multiple dishes.

I beg to differ on Pineapple Pete. The second worst burger I've had in St Maarten. Worst was Padro's. Service is fine but food is just OK. We only go when others in our travel group want to go. To many better places to go to for us.

I agree that Pineapple Pete's food is not the best, but for a large group with children, it's a good option.

Pineapple Pete is one of the few places on the island where you can take a large group and receive good service, plus they have a wide variety of different types of food, so everyone should be able to find something they like.

Highly recommend Pizza & CO SXM, located on airport road on the left side just after you go over the draw bridge going towards the airport, located beside a small convenience store. My family loves pizza and they said this was the best they have ever had. Over 40 different pizzas and prices range from $8 - $25.

Hey Angie, got to say--you've been registered for several months, and your only posts are both about a pizza place that your family went to? Your family didn't go anywhere else or enjoy any other places??

Yes we enjoyed other places like Chesterfields, Lee's and Greenhouse. Always see people post about Pizza Galley so thought I would recommend this place that we found this year after coming to SXM since 2008.

I am among the few people on the planet, I guess, that thinks Pizza Galley stinks. Crust tastes like cardboard to me. Guess everyone has different tastes..

Our favorite Italian Restaurant is Izi (across from Pineapple Pete's) Bavaria is another favorite for German food. We also enjoy The Palms and Fusion.

I used to really enjoy LaGandola when David had it in Sandy Ground, but Izi has not been consistent - so we are skipping it this year

I have not been impressed with Izi either. Tried it again this June and it was pretty pedestrian.

We were really impressed with Aglio E Olio in Grand Case (pizza only) - took a while but service was great and we had a wonderful time, but I don't hear a lot about it - did we just catch a good night
