The Grande Marche is not in an iffy area. The one closest to the roundabout at the end of the bridge is where we always stop(day or night)and have never felt scared. Very nice people inside working there. There is a Simply about a mile before the Club O turn off. Better have a interpreter with you if you don't read french. It is more expensive but they do have a different variety

We share your concern re that Grande Marche, especially if you arrive on a late flight and it is dark.
Simply in Hope Estates has good selection and is in a safe area, just before the roundabout. It is large and bright. They normally also have a security guard at the door. We also buy specialty foods at Bachus which is on the street just behind Simply. Excellent wines, cheeses, fresh baked bread, etc.

Agree that the Simply market is a great choice. You can be adventurous and get great and interesting items. I wish our Whole Foods had stuff that good!
Needed ingredients for a spaghetti and sauce. Ground beef looked a little different, but was more of a ground sirloin....bigger grind. Boeuf!
Excellent cheeses. I tended to ponder a while on the tomatoes and pastes for the sauce.
Ended up with fresh made tagliatelle as opposed to boxed noodles.
Results were AWESOME! More like a bolognese.
And the Côtes de Provence section of that store....heaven! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

Another option is the Super U in Marigot (where Match used to be). Great products and 1 to 1 on the dollar!
