After all these years of traveling I finally decided perhaps I should purchase travel insurance. Any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

We just purchased at www.insuremytrip.com for our first charter. They quote for numerous companies. I've never previously purchased trip insurance but decided we should since our charter is in August. It was also required by our boat. It was much cheaper than I expected. My parents recently purchased insurance for a trip and it was pretty expensive. I assume the rates are higher the older you are??

Insure my Trip is a sponsor on this site. I have used them for the last 6-7 trips. I have older parents and was mostly worried about them getting ill or worse. My hubby and I are now older too, funny how that happens. We will have lower parents but just as important for us to have medical evacuation service as well. Read the policies carefully and figure out what makes sense for your needs. I have used TravelGuard and SevenCorners. I have never had a claim.

We purchased Travel Guard for our trip last October. That is the company that Dream Yacht Charters has on their contract. It is just for the boat charter, not total trip like airline or hotel. Luckily we did and unluckily (not sure if that's a word) we did have to use it. One thing to note, we did get full refund EXCEPT the $520.00 damage deposit. They argued that it is insurance and they don't insure insurance! Wtf Dream Yacht has put a credit on our account for the next time we use them although I would prefer a check instead. Unfortunately, we are not using them this October since we found a much better deal at TMM. And yes, we did buy trip insurance for this coming trip. I will never travel without it again. We used TRAVEL INSURED. This time we insured the entire trip. On our trip last year, American Airlines gave us vouchers to use within 1 year so we did not lose any money on tickets. And they did not charge us a change fee ($250.00 each). I had many doctors letters and I just kept fighting with them about it until they agreed.

I went through the sponsor "insure my trip" and selected Travel Guard. Truly READ the options and you can't go wrong with Travel Guard. I mainly did this because of wanting to make sure if we had to cancel we could do it AND if something medical happened, the insurance would pay to get me back to Texas and not just back to the USA.

I have found that medical evacuation options are the major difference in plans.

As a business owner we always opt for the cancel for work option, some policies it's an option, some it's included
