We are spending a night in Miami on our way to SXM in October. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel near the airport? We aren't looking to pinch pennies and we don't need to park a car; we just want something nice that has a reliable shuttle, food on-site, and is clean. Thanks!

We usually stay right in the airport at the Miami Airport Hotel. Very convenient with a restaurant too. Embassy suits is very close buy. We stayed there once while in MIA. Nice free buffet breakfast and free managers cocktail party in the evening.

We love the Embassy Suites as long as we can arrive early enough to catch that Manager's Reception. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

We spent one night last week on the way down to SXM at the Hilton Miami Airport. No problems...complimentary shuttle to/from airport, nice restaurant, and clean. Would stay there again.

I've stayed at the Miami International Hotel within the airport several times. Last time, I was given a voucher for a free breakfast at the restaurant on top of the building; it was a good thing, because I don't think the restaurant has particularly good food. But you can't beat the convenience. Some of the rooms are pretty tiny so be sure to ask for the largest room possible within your price range.

Miam airport hotel was great for us because it's so convenient. Although last time we had a room with a weird fake window. It was like a real window facade curtains shade covering a spot on a solid wall. We arrived really late and left early so it wasn't too bad. If you have the chance, get a drink at Delano's hotel and dinner at Osteria del Teatro. Both very nice. Would have stayed at Delano's but for the 600$ night cost&#128514;

We stayed at the Hyatt Place, free airport shuttle, decent breakfast, and very good customer service.

When I travel for business to Miami I always stay at the Sofitel which is a 10 minute ride and normally $150 a night for a great room. Great staff and they have a free airport shuttle.

Thanks, everyone! After reading the reviews on all of the suggested hotels, we've decided on the Hyatt House. We feel good about the choice and appreciate the referral, sail2wind. FWIW, we've stayed at the Sofitel on previous layovers and weren't overly impressed ... we felt it was dated and in need of a good cleaning, especially in the pool area. All of the other suggestions were new to us, and we are grateful for them.
