Wheels up at 8 am tomorrow.Leaving from Red Hook to St. John for 1 or 2 nights and then a week in BVIs. Been to most of the "cool" spots but thinking of trying new ones. Any news that we should know before we cross over? Is Quito's open yet? Is there still a drought? Any words of wisdom?

B-Line Beach Bar on Little Jost, Hog Heaven on Virgin Gorda, Wonky Dog on Anegada -- and go to Flash of Beauty on Anegada too if you haven't been there in a while.

On STJ, Cruz Bay Landing is new and a great breakfast by the ferry dock. Good West Indian at De Coal Pot. Morgans Mango is closed due to fire. Fatty Crab closed.

I second the Cruz Bay Landing recommendation. We had a very nice late lunch there... fish tacos, burger and a bushwacker. Bring your DEET spray as it was one of the few places we encountered with mosquitoes.

also in Cruz Bay up the hill from the ferry dock is Barefoot Cowboy, nice breeze because it is up high and few bugs but a short walk and super BBQ if you are feeling so inclined!

On St John, Rhumb Line for dinner, or brunch on Sunday (not open for lunch). On Anegada, Wonky Dog for lobster dinner. Peter and Desne have been in business for about 1 1/2 years. Check them out on TripAdviser. Peter is a great cook. For dessert, try the sweet corn and bacon ice cream. (I know, just trust me!)

We were down May 31-June 7 and only had one little shower, but we talked to the folks at the charter co today and they said it's been raining a lot.

I don't like rain during my vacation, but I always feel for you all. I grew up spending a lot of time with my grandparents that lived on cistern water...in Missouri!!
