I have a gem stone that I would like to have set into a new setting while we are in SXM in June. We have not done much in the way of jewelry shopping on the island so I was hoping for a recommendation from all of you knowledgeable folks!!!

Loislynn, Most of us who have purchased island jewelry have our 'favorites' and I'm no exception. My family has shopped with Caribbean Gems on Front Street since they opened their first store on Front Street in 1983 and I doubt we've missed a year since. (I think we may have single handedly put at least one of his kids through college.......) We've always found their prices to be good and their service to be excellent and in fact, I just sent them a check yesterday for a trade-up piece I brought home with me earlier this month that I really hadn't planned on purchasing. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> They have many settings immediately available and an in-house workroom at one of their Front Street locations to do the job while you wait.

As was stated, everyone has their favorite jeweler. If you go to Ballerina, ask for Brian and tell him Judi from New York sent you.

We've been getting our jewelry from DK Gems on Front St just past the Courthouse on the Bay side for the past 14 years. Never been disappointed.
Next SXM visit -November 2023. Also January 2024.
