It's been several weeks since we have heard any updating on the Alegria situation other than it appears little has changed on property regarding numbers of guests, etc. Can anyone shed any light on what, if anything, is taking place...there have been rumors about the sale of Alegria.

panman,
As a rule, rumors are generally little more than an idea that gets started and grows and grows......I wouldn't take any of them too seriously. We heard the same as you when we were there, and we also heard they were trying to turn it into a very high-end exclusive resort rented to the who's who important (or think they are?) crowds. Really? In that location? With St. Barths a short airplane ride away?
We saw and heard some construction work going on but saw virtually no lighted units at night and not too many cars inside beyond the casino parking (and not too much of that either...) so I drew the conclusion there's not much happening there. But believe me, I could very well be wrong. The one late afternoon we thought about heading out to Martys he was closed and you can't blame him for that if there's no business. It seemed slow everywhere so that could easily translate into no business at all in a place with the reputation Alegria has garnered.
Respectfully,
pat
