Exactly 1 year ago today, my wife and I were hikign through the PNV in Rwanda going to see the great mountain gorillas. We were trekking to see the Sabinyo group. It was the climaz to an [color:"purple"]amazing month in Kenya, Tanzania & Rwanda[/color].

I think I was around 20 - 30 feet from him.
At times we got to within 4 feet of some gorillas. A blackback walked by a group of us and we could have touched him.

I would NOT want to be within arms length of this guy however.
While they are habituated to humans, he was definitely keeping an eye on us.

Wayne,

A most excellent photograph. I remember someone at the get together asking you if it was worth it to go to Rwanda when you only get to hang out with the gorillas for an hour and you said it was definitely worth it...I can see why with this photo...one hour of pure magic and raw beauty would definitely be worth it in my book, as well.
