Or buy a Martin Backpacker for $200 and take it with you. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Ten years ago I bought a Martin Travel guitar and it was one of the best things I have ever bought. Its a great little guitar, has amazing action and I use it more than my regular size Taylor.

Most important it is carry on luggage and it fits in the bin above the seats in most Caribbean bound jets (737s, Airbus, etc).

Its dimensions are 38 inches long (in the soft shell case) and it is approx. 12 inches wide and 4-5 inches deep.

I wouldn't go on a charter without it.

However I'm not sure what the rules would be for carrying (or even checking) it on one of those puddle jumper flights one might take from SJU to EIS.

I have a mini Martin guitar that I brought to the BVI last year. Even though it would have fit into the overhead bin of the Seaborne flight to Beef island, there was NO WAY that I could bring it into the cabin; it had to go back with the suitcases. I wasn't impressed.
That said, I was able to safely get the guitar home, but had to guard it everytime it went into overhead bins on the larger planes. People would happily jam their oversized carryons into the guitar if I were not there to stop them.
One other option is to bring an electric guitar with bolt-on neck and just separate the neck from the body for transport. A Fender miniStrat can be purchased for about $100; plays well and is nearly indestructable.

Jim and Cecilia at Pro Valor have one for rent. It's possible they only rent it to their charters.
