So! We've spent our first full day at BSV and I'm lovin' it!
We went no where. We did nothing. We saw no one! And it was all good. Well, we did see some of our neighbors at the pool......
The biggest decision of the day was sand, porch or pool deck along with what time did we want to eat dinner since we were planning all along on BBQing steaks tonight.
Ah, minor correction - DH did get in the car and go to Zee Best for pastries when he realized we were all out and he had none for breakfast tomorrow morning. When it comes to his tummy being happy, he had no problem doing that. And when he returned it was perfect timing to see the big blue KLM take off from the observation platform here at BSV. He's loving watching the planes come and go almost as much as he's liking seeing and enjoying the yachts going by at sea and the pretty girls in their bikinis walking their dogs and jogging along the beach. He's really been having a tough day.
My observations of the day include - The waves are still crashing and the seaweed is still coming in but at least we saw a couple of brave souls in the ocean this afternoon when there was a brief hiatus in the turbulent waters. When he drove by Maho Beach and SSBBar, DH said people were all over the road and there was almost no room for chairs on the beach at all. The Sahara sands seem to have dissipated and the skies are looking less hazy and we even got a brief peak at the outline of Saba in the distance but that didn't last long and the acrid odor of the dump fire finally seems to either have burned itself out ergo no smell or the wind is blowing it in another direction. It's been a different kind of trip this year, for sure.
We did steaks on the grill and after dinner took a quick dip in the pool which is right next door to us. Ah, it's definitely been a rough day and that's the full sum and total of our day today. If we're lucky, maybe we can do an instant replay tomorrow.
Respectfully,
pat

Sounds like a perfect day, Pat. May I ask where did you purchase the steaks from?

From my butcher in Ct., Louise. Sorry. I had them all packaged in the freezer and was shipping a cooler with locally made boxes of Bridgewater Chocolates for the Towers staff anyway, so I just double wrapped the steaks and brought them with me.
For what it's worth, though, I saw some very nice boneless rib-eye steaks at the LGMGourmet at Porto Cupecoy that I would not have thought twice about buying along with a rack of lamb that was possibly nicer looking than some I've gotten from my butcher. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Sounds like the perfect day and pretty much mirrored all of our days last week. We did go to orient one day and I have to say the waves were the calendar I've ever seen in the 12 trips to sxm. Our plane coming and going was right next to the klm. It amazes me how something that big can get airborne. Enjoy today. I look forward to your next post.
