Arrived on 4/24 through jfk. got to sxm at 11:20 customs was perfect. we were at simpson bay resort and in the pool by 12:30. We took a cab ($12) as our friends were not arriving until 2 and its their timeshare. The resort held our luggage and we quickly changed in their gym.

We had many plans to visit different places this week as we were inspired by beerman. Unfortunately my hip did not cooperate. Thank God I brought my cane.

With 2 kids in college we don't eat out much. we bring our own food and eat out once or twice. we ate out in maho at an Italian place next to cheris. Unfortunately I don't remember the name. Began with a t. It was good. I had spaghetti and dh had shrimp scampi. Huge portions.

We mostly laid on the beach at the resort. We went to orient one day and the most beautiful island dog napped under my chair all day. Wanted to take her home. There was also a lab that insisted on playing ball with every one that went by.

We also took the tango to anguilla one day. They brought us to Cole bay. It was full of seaweed but we parked ourselves on the beach and napped. that might have been from all the drinks on the way there. The crew on the Tango was great. One embarrassing thing. The captain carried me to the dingy, as I couldn't get thru all the sea weed with my cane. Lol.

So we left the resort three times. Exciting right? Simpson bay resort has come a long way. They would come around with fresh fruit platters on the beach. The workers were very accommodating.

The have floats you can use. I guess I floated a little to far because I got pulled over by their marina boat. Lol. I closed my eyes and didn't realize. Lol. I got pulled over on a float by a boat. Still laughing about that.

The mosquitoes were bad. I got chewed alive. I went to bon appetite every morning for their momossas. They make the best. We had breakfast there a few times and it was excellent.

Now to tell you how I ended my vacation. Thursday morning I woke up so sick. I literally couldn't move. I was throwing up and dizzy. weak as could be. I was extremely dehydrated. My girlfriend found a nurse at the pool bar lol. She suggested I go to the Er for an iv. I toughed it out. My dh got me gatoraid and ensure for some electrolytes and protein. About 2am I started feeling better. It was scary though. Laura who is the sweetest bartender at the marina pool bar left a full bar of people to come up to the room and give me a hug. She then began to give me the riot act about drinking and not having water. She made me eat 4 crackers and wouldn't leave until I ate the last one. I learned my lesson.

So that was our week. I'm sure it might sound boring to you but other than the last day it was perfect for us.

Coming home was uneventful. the plane killed me lots of pain but I had a wheelchair at jfk so got thru customs quick. Kind of embarrassing being 47 but what can you do. Having my other hip replaced June 9th so hopefully when we go back in February I'll be better.

Oh on a better note the waves were very calm at orient and at our resort. I apologize for all the bad grammar or spelling mistakes but I'm writing this from my kindle as our computer crashed.

So the takeaway from last week---alcohol is ok but drink water in between. 2nd if you are on a float keep your eyes open. Lol. --- andrea

Hi Andrea. I cleaned up the report a little bit.

Sorry that your hip wasn't better than it was. Glad you got wheelchair assistm as that is a godsend. Hope your February trip is less painful.

The same thing happened in the movie "10".
