Here is a link to an article about the fire at Morgan's Mango Tuesday morning. One of the first places I visited on St John when I moved here in '94. I hope they can rebuild.

A favorite of ours, hope they are able to rebuild quickly. The community spirit always seems to help in these unfortunate situations.

Okay, walked by last night. From the street, you would never know there was a problem. The tree in the middle of the restaurant looks okay. There isn't a heavy smoke smell like there was at the Tap Room. I hope the Hendrick's gin was not damaged.
Also went by the new temporary Tap Room. It is small and when it gets crowded, pretty loud. But glad to see them come back.
The new place in town, the Longboard, was jammed. Didn't look at the menu, though.

Where is the Tap Room located now ? And the Longboard, is it a new biz or an old one renamed ?

The Tap Room is upstairs, near the old one, but accessed from the back (parking side). They seem to have the innards of the old restaurant and the beauty salon removed, but didn't look like there was construction yet.
The Longboard is under the Cafe Roma space. I can't remember what that place was called? It is very bright- painted white with lots of blinding light.
Maybe Tom B will report next week.

We hit the Tap Room at the beginning of April. They were working the demolition of their old space. They have plans to keep their temp space and do a full kitchen buildout. The original Mongoose architect Glen Speer is working with them on the project. The Temp Room was comfortable and the draught beers were good.
Cheers, RickG
