My husband and I along with another couple are going to the island in July. We are thinking we might like to do a HH or dinner cruise. Not a "party cruise" just a casual, romantic cruise around the island at sunset possibly light snacks/dinner with cocktails. Any suggestions? TY

It will not be "around the island". Likely from Simpson Bay up to Long Bay and return. That is what they do on the lunch sail that includes a lunch and swim stop. It is an old sailing ship and is very well run and maintained.
It is not a party boat but will include drinks and a great view of the sunset, conditions permitting.

Agree with going on the Passat. Definitely not a "party" atmosphere but a great time. We've been 4 times on their sunset cruise and thoroughly enjoyed each time. Just one note of caution if you aren't a water person - they ferry you out to the ship on a Zodiac boat. Last time a lady was very concerned and almost didn't go.

Really can't beat Passaat for the atmosphere you're describing.

Thank you all so much for the responses. We are definitely going to do the sunset cruise. We are staying at The Royal Palm so we are right there. How far in advance do you think reservations are necessary? We are going the end of July. Also, what type of snacks are served? We were thinking of doing the cruise then go to dinner. Also, I'm assuming dress is casual? TY

In that case why go on a sunset dinner cruise if your going to dinner afterwards? Just wondering.

If you re-read the post you just responded to, she said she was going to go on the SUNSET cruise, even though the original post talked about going on either a dinner OR sunset cruise.

I would think that you would not need reservations too far in advance, but if you're going on Passaat, recognize that it is not a party barge like a lot of them, and they only carry a few passengers. I might think about doing a reservation maybe a couple weeks in advance. Haven't been on it myself, so not exactly sure on the snacks. Casual dress for sure, although I have had some ladies comment that you need to be careful not to wear high heels, as you have to get in and out of the dinghy to get to the boat, again, if you're doing Passaat.

Hubby doesn't do real well on slow moving boats bobbing up and down. A fast "speed boat" he is ok with. He said he should be ok for 2 hrs. We don't want to push it. We've never done any type of "cruise" like this and we thought it would be romantic to have a few cocktails and see the island from the water and then get on dry land.....

Thank you Carol. I was thinking a few DAYS ahead of time. LOL. I will e-mail them a few weeks before we go. This trip on the Passant sounds just wonderful. We can't wait.

I have done the lunch cruise on The Passaat the past 3 years. We have not had anyone get sick in any fashion and it is something we look forward to doing again. I have not done the sunset cruise so I can not speak for the snacks. When you communicate with Mirian, ask about snacks. Dress is whatever you want to wear.
July is not a busy time but I would suggest emailing Mirian at least 2-3 weeks out. They only take around 20 or so people so it is not at all crowded.
If you are at Royal Palm you can just walk across the street to catch the dingy at your assigned time.

The snacks on the sunset cruise include fresh fruit, crackers, pizza squares, breads. If you are a light eater, you could make a dinner of it as she comes around with trays several times throughout the cruise.
