Hi all,
Just back from another awesome experience in the BVI. Here are just a few of the many highlights/encounters we made along the way.
1) Love Air Sunshine. They do a great job. On our final approach into EIS, the pilot noticed Casey trying to get a picture of that round house on the small island (don't know the name) to the right. He dipped the starboard wing so that she could get her picture. That's service.
2) TTOL party at Mal's place was great. We finally met SO MANY of our online friends in person. It was GREAT fun. I put a video together that is pending approval from google. I will post the link as soon as it is up for viewing.
3) I have only been to the BVI as early in the season as November and as late as February. It was considerably warmer in June. Less wind and seas. It seemed like there were less fish even though the visibility was very good. Maybe I was snorkeling the wrong places or the wrong times. WAY fewer boats (which is good)
4) Renewed and made some special new friendships. Malcolm is so much fun to have aboard. The kids are very captivated by his sense of humor (as we all are). Rex and Laura also became official crew members of La Joie de Vivre. They both are WAY too much fun to hang out with.
Walker and Nancy also had an impact on us. Not too often when we are so fascinated by people. So friendly, interesting, and fun to interact with.
We hope to renew these and all the new friendships we made on this trip.
5) My kids are like magnets. They make their own fun and people gravitate towards them. I don't know if it's because we all want to be young again or that they embrace the essence of life so well. Either way, it was fun to participate.
The crab races, the dancing circle at Quitos, and playing fetch/catch the coconut at White Bay JVD were just a few examples of the fun. Traveling with kids is what Ponce de Leon was really looking for.
6) First time ever to the USVI. We spent 2 nights at St. John. We enjoyed it very much. The anchorages we even less crowded than the BVI. Swam with many sea turtles at Cinnamon Bay. Nice snorkeling at Leinster too. More "day beach visitors". After 5 PM we get the beaches to ourselves
7) Our visit to the baths was our best in years. I wonder if that had anything to do with getting there at 8 AM? Maybe?
Thanks again to Mal and TTOL for the great party. It was so great to make so many new friends. Hope to see you all real soon.
