Someone explain to me how ANYONE would want to go to a mall when they're on a tropical island. Maybe a resort would have been a better idea to build. Weird. I read a review on TripAdvisor where someone said it was a good way to "escape the hustle and bustle of Front and Back Street." Isn't the whole POINT of going to the island to experience exactly that? The Blue Mall building is attractive, but going indoors to a mall is crazy. We went to Aruba last November, and they had a mall in Oranjestaad, also. Just seems really odd.

Maybe they thought there were enough locals/yacht people needing a shopping venue..
It would not be in my top 100 things to do on Island

it sounds like a horrible idea to me. On a separate note, the first mall in my area built in the early 70s is now a dangerous wasteland. well that's an exaggeration, but stores are closed and there's a shooting every couple of months. I'm more of a fan of marketplaces

We ate there and walked around, had dinner one night and watched a hockey game. There are some shops that I'm sure parents bring their kids for the "labeled brands". No difference than the mall on the French side, though that mall is much more inviting. Was told you could park in their garage and go across to the beach as well. Idk. If I had My son with me we could have done some damage!

We haven't been to Blue Mall but we have gone into the mall in Marigot and if prices are near to those in Marigot I guess I'll never go to Blue Mall!
I suppose if there was a very heavy rain day in SXM it would be a place to get inside.
