What are your favorite places to snorkel from land or sea?

The Chimney on Great Dog. Fallen Jerusalem and the Indians would be my 3 favorite spots.

Our group loves snorkeling at The Indians. Last trip we discovered some great snorkeling at The Bight just south of the restaurant. Lots of neat things to see and saw a ray and some starfish.

We tried snorkeling at Cooper. I can't remember the name but it is South of where you anchor. We saw several turtles here which was the highlight.

Love to snorkel at Loblolly Bay in Anegada.

I've heard great things of Monkey Point. I hope to make a stop there next time.

Cistern rock

Oh yes, Cistern point and everything between the moorings getting to cistern point is also a great spot. We almost always see a turtle there - in fact, can't think of the last time we didn't.

The south side of Little JVD is usually pretty good. Schools of shiners with a lot of Tarpon barreling through them.

Are you talking by Diamond Cay?

No, along the south shoreline of Little JVD. Although, Diamond Cay is usually pretty good for turtles.

"The Aquarium" - Nestled between the Baths and Spanish Town (Virgin Gorda )
rocky shore between the mooring field at Diamond Cay up to Green Cay on JVD
Brewer's Bay - left side in front of Nicoles; in the middle; & the reef by campground, Long Bay, Devil's Bay
west side of Sandy Spit, if no northern swell

Not the best from-the-beach snorkelling but still pretty good. Summertime from in front of CRC in Apple Bay follow the rocks out to the point..tons of fish etc...if you feel brave swim out 100 yards or so to the reef. Also in CGB in front of the red roofed villa at the west end is a nice reef with snorkelling..same in front of Nicole's in Brewers'Bay..

I wouldn't advise snorkeling the aquarium dive site - you are very exposed to the boat traffic going by there. Even diving made us a bit nervous.

Maytrix - I was actually looking to snorkel the Aquarium for the 1st time later this month. I've sailed past it dozens of times but not paid any attention to it. I'm assuming there's a NTP mooring ball there. If so, about how far is it to the "seamount" and which direction? I could post someone in the dinghy nearby to help keep away traffic.

What is the seamount?

There is an NPT mooring and we found it by going along Virgin Gorda from the baths to Spanish town. You could also do the reverse. It's been a couple years, but I think it was one of the larger balls. I just know boats went back and forth and from a diving perspective was concerned if we'd have to pop up to check on where we are that it could be dangerous depending on how far we were from the boat. But it was a pretty easy sight to navigate.

We actually like snorkeling around the Baths, esp. either side of Devil's Bay.
