This may be a stupid question. I'm flying in on Delta on a Friday night and staying at the SJU hotel. I have a 7am flight the next morning on Cape Air. The hotel folks told me that they are in one of the concourses. Cape Air doesn't do "normal," type tickets. If I don't have a Cape Air ticket and the hotel is in one of the concourses, how the heck do I get past security to get to the Cape Air gate?

The SJU airport is outside of security. It's a bit of a hike from the airport (which is near Concourse D) to Cape Air's check-in desk (at Concourse A), where you'll get your "normal type" ticket and come back to the Concourse B security to get to Cape Air's new gate. Tip: Nobody gets to Cape Air's ticket counter until 6AM, so don't bother getting an early start.

That's exactly the info I was looking for. WHen I asked the person at the hotel while making reservations, they didn't understand the issue. So I can connect from the D unsecure area to the unsecure area at A, get tickets, go through security, and tie back into B. I understand now. Thanks.

That airport is so dang crazy and the flight is early, so there isn't much margin for error. When I was at Cape Air last summer, I was able to stay in the secure area the whole time and so didn't know how the rest all tied together. The airport map isn't much help either.

Just check to see what time the Cape Air desk opens. I want to say its 6am. We had a red eye flight and a 7am flight so we didn't bother with the hotel. Decided to head to the Cape Air desk at 5am and waiting (I think until 6) before someone showed up. Worked out fine though.

check your Cape Air departure time. Just looked up my itinerary (red-eye BOS-SJU-EIS) and my Cape Air 7:00am flight has been cancelled -- not leaving now until 10:15am. Island Birds all set to take us to Anegada at 9am. Not happy with Cape Air. This is their last chance. Last year they messed up our schedule as well - had to overnight in SJU due to TWO plane problems? Good luck!!

CA has already changed my homebound departure time to an earlier time. It's costing me a night on the boat. We get into SJU at 8:30pm with kids, so a hotel was required.

The SJU airport is undergoing a lot of renovations and everything is a bit screwed up - Just show up at the ticket counter with your luggage and you'll be fine.

Figuring out how to get to the ticket counter was what I wasn't clear on when they told me the hotel was on a concourse. I kept asking them at the hotel how you get across the airport and she couldn't answer it.

Just some other notes. The hotel is just down about 10 steps from the food, shopping, check in desk area (unsecured)and just inside from the taxi drop off area. I haven't seen the new remodel work but you will be on the far (North(?) end) of the airport near a couple of the restaurants and it is really super easy!

Actually when we were there in Feb. the old check-in was closed and they had a real fancy facility up one flight of stairs.

sorry i did not catch you in time. anyone that has to stay in the sJU hotel in the airport. BEWARE their air conditioning system is piped in with the airport no adjusting it and it is freeezing. coming out or into the caribe and having to stay here you are not going to be prepared. had to wear hubbys socks use extra blankets and turn the hair dryer on in the bathroom to keep warm it was freezing.

I guess it must depend on the room. I've stayed there about 6 times in 5 years and never had a problem. And I hate A/C. Must have got lucky. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Check with Cape Air as to where there check-in counter and gate is will be located located when just before your flights. We have flights in May and they have moved the ticket counter to Terminal B and the new gate is C-23.
This should bring things closer to the main Terminals.
