I normally use my AT&T phone with an AT&T international data plan when travelling abroad, but I now have a phone which I own outright so they have graciously unlocked the SIM card slot for me.
I have read many posts about getting SIMs while on island but almost everyone talks about using them for voice. I am curious what kind of data plans I could expect to be able to purchase, I almost never use my phone for calls so that isn't really important to me.
I would appreciate any info that could be lent. Thank you.

I currently have a TelCell data SIM in a USB stick, 2Gb data for $32. I'm posting this reply using it from Grand Case (while roaming); despite them telling me it wouldn't work here. It worked flawlessly while on the Dutch side.

Sounds like a bargain! TelCell is a French carrier correct? Will be staying on the Dutch side, but all over the island. DO you know if you can "roam" with that to Anguilla?

I have an iPad which I use with ATT in the US, and for which I have a local French-side prepay SIM which I used to use for unlimited data Fench-side. ATT has changed their international data roaming within the last year. I've stopped using my local SIM, use ATT Passport and wi-fi on-island, and my cost has dropped a bit. It's worth taking another look at ATT and seeing if it makes sense to just use ATT Passport.

There is also chippie pre-paid data from UTS. They have a couple of plans. I use the 4GB for 30 days for $35. Sharon, Queen of SXM, sells the sims if you need it.

Been using Chippie for that exact purpose for a while. Quite good.
