can you walk the beach at night without getting eaten alive? Or is there so much wind that its not an issue? or do you need to spray some repellant at dusk/evening ?

Depends alot on how breezy it is. The wind is your friend.

Which beach are you considering walking? There are some that I would strongly advise you not to be on after dark, for your personal safety.

It is always good to use mosquito repellent. There have been many problems with mosquito diseases such as chikungunya. I know it is something that we often forget to do, but I have mine ready to bring. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

We just returned the very end of March from St Martin, I didn't get bit at all but my wife got eating alive, I would recommend spraying with bug spray morning and evening that seemed to be the worse also start taking the vitamin B1 or garlic pills before you go this may help.

For the Sand Fleas (" ...tiny biteing horrors...as characterized by a character in Mitchner's novel 'Caribbean' ": spray yourself from the knees down heavily with Deep Woods Off every afternoon ay 3 PM AST. That is when they emerge from the sand for "supper"...YOU!
Yes, DEET is a mandatory ingredient...

Sorry I just had to ask because my mind went wild imagining one bug biting then telling his friends "I had a bad meal so avoid that person."
