We have a codeshare flight from Philadelphia to St Thomas to Beef Island. Will we be able to stay in the secure area after landing in St Thomas, or will we have to go out and back in through security to catch the Cape Air flight? We have an hour or so between flights. We are not checking luggage. Thanks!

Cape Air flies STT to EIS? You would be in the secured area, only one terminal.

Really? I have never seen anyone deplane back into the terminal. That does not mean it does not work that way.

You can stay in the terminal if they have a mechanism to make that happen. Normally they deplane all flights straight to baggage claim. I would tell the agents at the bottom of the stairs you are connecting. If however you reverse the route and come from EIS to STT you will have to exit and clear customs.

Cape air leaves from a different terminal. I believe you will have to deplane. Possibly retrieve your bags go outside and re enter. I would call Cape Air.

Did that a couple years ago. Everyone was sent the usual route to the main terminal area, then you had to go up to the Cape Air desk and check in.

Thanks, folks. I was afraid of that. Not sure the hour or so I will have is long enough to go around again. Will look at other options.

Anyone want to share a charter any day between April 16-April 20 St Thomas to Virgin Gorda after 2pm?

Ferries are out of the question from St Thomas. We had more than one horrible experience in the past few years. We can handle the 15 minute ferry from Beef Island to Virgin Gorda, but no way from St Thomas.

Charter flight is the only other option, or we spend the night in St Thomas. Meh.

In the dates you list there is a Tuesday and a Thursday. I don't know whether you had trouble with connections/being on time with the ferry or have members of the party that don't like to ride a boat. If unpredictability is the issue on Tues and Thursday there is a 5 pm departure from CA direct to spanishtown . It will be there. It will run approx on time. On the other hand if get there a lot earlier in pm; I would take the next available to road
town, and speedys to VG. That's what we did a couple weeks ago and were having dinner on VG by 5:30 after a 2 ish pm arrival at STT. Enjoy how ever you finally get there. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

Just did that a couple of weeks ago. We got off Jet Blue, walked into the terminal, then went to Cape Air. At Cape Air they weigh everything, carry ons, pocketbooks, etc. They also ask you your weight. You then go through security into a wating room which has a soda machine & two bathrooms. When you go to get on the plane they take all your carry ons on put them in various compartments on the outside of the plane. If there is too much weight they hold luggage and send it later. Very small planes.

Thanks! Did you go through the main security line of the airport, and immigration? Or is it separate security line? Will an hour be enough time?

Immigration is at Beef Island. The Cape Air planes are small, so not many people. I guess if they had a number of flights at teh same time, it might back up, but we did not have a problem. Just remember to keep your wallet & passport with you on your person, because they take all the bags, pocketbooks etc.
