Well here goes...sorry I tried posting this a few days ago but didn't go through...computer problems.
Weather: Was just perfect this year. Had only 2 mornings of rain out of 3 weeks. Other than the wind being down on the last day of the regatta that caused the last day to be cancelled it was just perfect.
Restaurants: Pizza Galley always great especially after drinking at the Lady C. Tried Skip Jacks the food was very good and they were 50/50 on service. One night extremely slow the other was good so would go back. Tried the Warf, which was very good. Also went to Boathouse 3 times and it was excellent on all 3 visits. Bananas good as always as was Zee Best, The french bakery,Spinnakers, Kangeroo Court, the pizza at Bucaneer, Lees, and Tutta Pasta. Lvoe their carbonara. Only disappointment this year was Peg Leg. The table right next to us ordered a sandwich and when I tried Shawn said no and since I wasn't that hungry ordered a bowl of soup and appetizer and he seemed unhappy with this and service ceased to exist. We have always gone several times a trip but that will be our last for a while. Sorry but too many other places to worry about this treatment. Ate at Friars Bay beach bistro and way over priced but the food was ok. I'm sure I am forgetting something...lost a few brain cells.
Beaches: Cupecoy was very nice while we were there and enjoyed a massage right below the Cliffhanger. Also went to Orient, Friars, Grand Case, Maho.
Bars: Sunset after years of devotion only saw us visit one day, for one drink. Prices are way to high and the local flavor is gone. We enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones at the Driftwood Boat Bar same beach, same view of planes, cheaper drinks. Also Lady C, CLiffhanger, and a lot of time spent at Bucaneer...loved the band Day at the Beach Neil...hope they come back next year! The pizza is great and the BBC awesome. Really spent a lot of braincells at the Bucaneer. Also went to the Red Piano bar which was a new one for me...it is at the Pelican.
Resort: Stayed at Flamingo and it was in good shape. The refurbished units came out really nice and I understand the rest will be done in the main building by the end of this year.
Activities: Spent a day on Anguilla and most of that on Shoal Bay. It reminds me of Orient 20 years ago though couldn't believe all the building going on over there. SXM is bad enough and the traffic is getting really bad. Also rented a boat one day which was a blast and would do that again in a heart beat.
All in all a great trip and looking forward to next spring already. Enjoyed the regatta, the great weather, seeing of old friends and making of new ones. Understand the airport will be done in August and the old terminal and extension of runway done by November. Any questions be sure and let me know.
