So Kenny is booked for the week that we are in SXM. We are on the phone with Empress now and they have a Hyundai Accent for $136 for Sat - Weds rental. Is this a reasonable amount and are they decent to deal with? I saw the previous comments to make sure to take pics. Would love any other insight. Also, is it true they don't offer a discount to TTOL folks? Thanks!

Sorry you couldn't hook up with LESLEY - aka KENNYS - as he is a nice guy to do business with and no need to take photos with him, for sure. Per diem rentals are usually a little higher than weekly rates so the Empress rate doesn't sound bad to me. I haven't used them myself but friends of friends did recently and were happy. OK, once again, people, the OP did not ask for other recommendations. They want to know about Empress. As far as no discount for TTOL members, I actually am not aware of any car rental place in SXM that offers a discount for TTOL members. And, as Pat said, partial week rentals are much higher per day than a weekly rental.

We rented for the month of February and their price ($235 per week in high season)included liability insurance and taxes. Pick up was easy- place is really close to the airport. We've used Empress 2 or 3 times and they were reasonable on rates and very pleasant to deal with. Would definitely use them again.

They were good to us on a 2-week rental in Feb. First time we rented from them. Very close to the airport, decent pricing, no issues anywhere. Your quote sounds about right.

Used Empress last year. Zero problems and had the best prices.
There's a small fortune to be made in racing; just start with a large one.

We've used Empress the last two times to SXM. Elias is a good man and his rates are among the best and include liability. We will continue renting from him from now on.They even fixed a flat last time without any hassle. It was a three inch nail!

I have used Empress since 2008 with no problems what so ever. I think that their prices are the best around, but then again, I haven't checked lately since I only use them.

Used Empress and they were very nice and helpful.

They rented us an umbrella too!

Empress is fine. And if you have any issues with your car, they will change it out with no questions asked - we even went in one year and asked if they could do anything about squeaky brakes because we like to ride around with the windows down and the squeaks were annoying - they gave us another, newer, nicer car without blinking an eye. Flat tire one year = they came to Grand Case and changed it for us because there was no tire tool in the trunk.
