That's strange. Did they tell you why there are no flights? I did an on line search and found a flight leaving Aug. 29th and returning on Sept 5, but no flights going to SXM on the 5th... don't know where the return plane is coming from!! I know they don't do Friday flights anymore which is a problem for folks with Fri-Fri timeshares.

We had booked ORD ==> EWR ==> SXM on October 24 (a Saturday) on United and they cancelled the flight, so it is possible they cancelled all the flights from Newark to SXM.

EWR is starting to experience the limited nonstop schedule that DC has had for several years. Starting with this Low Season, United has greatly scaled back the days they fly from EWR to SXM.

We are on United on the way down in Nov - LAS_>EWR->SXM - Friday red eye Sat arrival. On the way back we are on Copa Air a UA partner (they have the same logo as Continental had) SXM- Panama City ->LAS on a Saturday. I take what I can get and am happy to get there and back on miles.

Wendell, I did not know when I booked, but have since learned all about them, some good, some bad, but overall, they seem ok to me. I really am not fussy, of course I like to fly first and get all the perks, but in this case I got one way tickets for 17.5, so I am happy. We will go to the lounge in Panama City, not enough time to take a tour, then we will head home, it's all good! Happy to have two trips booked! Ellen

The flights from Chicago the last few years have been so expensive it's making it really tough to make SXM a family spring break vacation.
I remember getting tickets for $400 and two years ago it was $800 and that seems to be the norm.

Go to the second floor. There is a JB style margarita bar and you can ask for the wifi code. good place to pass a couple of hours.

I did notice that jetBlue now has flights from Chicago to SXM with a connection in San Juan. I've seen one way fares to the island for $225 pp, and a one-way return fare of $285 pp. Just another option.
