Which companies have larger rental cars that will fit 5 people comfortably? I looked on Kenny's site, but it looks like he only rents Toyota Corollas? Thanks!

Try Jimmy Fitzpatrick at Leisure Car Rental. We have been renting vans and ford explorers for several years. Normally we have 6 to 8 and they work well. Great service too.

We have had the need for up to 6 on some of our trips and we have rented a Ford Explorer (with rear seat) and Toyota Sienna mini van from Michael at Unity. You may want to investigate the cost of renting two Corollas vs the Explorer or mini-van.

Explorer/ Hyundai small SUV/ van/. We rent two mid size SUV types for 10 people with luggage. No problem one trip to airport on return. Also explorer has 3rd row seat so don't have to put 3 in back albeit it is not tight

kim said: Corollas seat 5 no problem But not with baggage. Perhaps one person takes a cab to the hotel with some of the baggage, and the rest take the rental car. Or rent two cars, which also allows groups to go to different places if they so choose.

Several of the sponsors rent larger cars, just check out their websites from the sponsors list.
However, as Kim said, a Corolla will fit 5 people. Something larger than that is going to cost a LOT more than a Corolla. What's the configuration of your group? If there are 4 adults, you might want to get two vehicles, as it will be about the same cost as 1 larger vehicle, and small cars are much easier to park. Going out to dinner, you can still all squeeze into one vehicle if you want, but gives you more options during the day. Now if it's two adults and 3 kids, two vehicles won't work, but would be easier to get 3 kids in the back of one car to begin with.

Unless the OP is travelling with children and possibly needing extra space for car seats and such, I'd go along with those who suggested renting two Corolla type/size cars.
We've traveled with a group issue on many occasions and it took us but one trip to realize the better part of valor for all concerned is to have an extra car. Someone always seems to want to go in a different direction or sleep in a little later than the rest. As for going to dinner, as was stated, you can all squeeze into one car if you're of a mind to but it will be close, for sure.
It can really cut down on tension and stress levels if you're traveling with enough drivers to make the second car work and two smaller cars, besides giving you a lot of extra freedom, will probably cost about the same amount as the large passenger SUV or Van in the end.

We are 5 adults. Would prefer one car and if we need to split up and some take a car and some take taxis we are fine with that. Or if we want to have some drinks at dinner and no one wants to drive, then we all split a taxi it is ok. Going for my 40th birthday, so willing to splurge a little more than usual

Honestly, look at the prices! In SXM, the prices for a larger vehicle are basically double the price of a small vehicle. In the US, you can often get an upgrade to a larger vehicle really cheap, but you're going to pay a huge premium for that larger vehicle in SXM. And have you travelled with these folks before? For ME, personally, I would not want to be tethered to someone else, even during the day, to do exactly the same thing all the time. If you look at the prices and still want to do one large car, then that's your decision. But again, parking a larger vehicle in SXM is a major PITA. And, a Corolla does fit 5 adults in a pinch...

If your worried about all the luggage some companies, like Hertz, will provide extra transportation to the resort for the extra people or luggage that won't otherwise fit in a Corolla. They did that for us last year for no charge. We did tip the driver nicely.

Thank you SXMScubaman! That is a great option.
Yes, we have all traveled together before and are fine with whatever everyone wants to do. If some want to take a taxi somewhere, that is fine. My husband and I are providing lodging for everyone and will pay for the car as part of my birthday, so if folks need to pay for a taxi here and there to do something outside of the group, they will be ok with it!
